Well the biggest proof I find of Mahabharata being true history and not some story is that it does mention some characters which have no use in the story. Their presence absence don't make much difference, they need not have been introduced, yet we have them. Let's discuss the most useless characters of Mahabharata

I think it is Chitrangad, the elder brother of Vichitraveer

Nakul. What's even the point of him. Yudhishthir could have saved Sahadev during Yaksha Prashna. Infact honestly we can remove Sahadev too. Makes not too much of difference either!

The villages can be chosen by Draupadi - she had the political mind too😆

However I'd like Sahadev to stay because at least one brother who represents the quiet lot, an introvert.

Actually I have not read Jaimini Mahabharata parts(which is not available completely and is as old as Vaishampayan) but have heard that it is different from Vaishampayan Mahabharata in many ways

For example here Karna has a son who doesn't die in the war, he is adopted by Arjun post war and is made a super soldier (like Arjun of next generation) he is offered Indraprasth but he discards the offer willing to stay with Arjun in Hastinapur. He dies during the Pandavas Ashwamedh campaign

Aside Vrihsena too has a son (infant at the time of the war) who is made the king of Malini and AngaPradesh (areas of Karna).

These boys have no mention in the Mahabharata we have

Aside the Ashwamedh campaign is much more detailed.

The Nakul is Arjun of this Mahabharata

But of Pandu could have kids why did he go for Niyog

Exactly. Seems like he really really didn't want to mate with Kunti so he made up a story for Kunti and mated with Madri.

But the article also said something like all were Kunti's sons. What 🤣

Maybe he was conceived in the last mate when Pandu died
