At the end he died due to those injuries so whoever eliminated him did slain him that's not wrong technically
Every car warrior is described as a car warrior in it, I had to use 'Find in page:' 😂😂😂 foremost of car warriors maybe meant he was ahead of everyone as placed by Arjuna
How much room is there in a chariot? Arjuna and Shikhandi both are firing from a single one, it takes different angles and body postures to shoot an arrow, if Shikhandi was a human shield he wouldn't shoot arrows endangering Arjuna and it will be difficult for Arjuna to see everyone as Bheeshma wasn't fighting alone
One interesting thing I found, turns out Bheeshma did attack Shikhandi on day 7 -
'King Yudhishthira then, beholding Sikhandin flying away, having had his weapon cut off by Santanu's son became filled with anger. Theory -
It was Shikhandi's oath to kill Bheeshma so it is possible that they decided Shikhandi killed him or he had to commit suicide because none could tell among those 1000 arrows which actually killed Bheeshma.
Bheeshma did attack Shikhandi so him not attacking Shikhandi and Arjun using him as shield is wrong

To slay means to murder. It's wrong on multiple levels. Moreover, the wounds had ceased causing him pain and when he finally decided to let go of his life, all wounds vanished and the soul found release by piercing his mukut.Originally posted by: FlauntPessimism

Shikhandi hadn't taken an oath to kill Bheeshm but to be the cause of his death
