Yeah or it's just the taboo nature of it in that society. Exactly, it is the most needed in these places. In regards to them thinking it may encourage children to do it, that is why I was saying that her mom should have at least discussed it before her marriage to Dr. Hammad. They look at it from a religious point of view so yeah sex before marriage is considered a sin but when your kid's wedding has been confirmed at least then discuss it with them because it is inevitable and such an important part of marriage.

Yup that's how it is but what happens when someone doesn't have siblings or even cousins around them? It's so unfortunate that Pakistani parents essentially throw their daughters to the wolves or so to say. If a girl as naive and clueless as Mahjabeen doesn't know such things would she not freak out when her husband tries to initiate something? Neither would she know her rights as a wife. Like at least tell her when her marriage has been decided. At least voice your concerns about the Sarwar issue to her so she knows to be careful and knows not to get caught alone with him. Discussing intimacy with daughters is also a way to protect them. I would expect better from the mother of an only daughter - a lot of times the mother is the best friend.

In this day/age, the girl doesnt need to be taught or guided by a sister/cousin because they learn everything from school education and friends. They do give sex education in school however I dont know how it is in Pakistan, im sure a lot of girls do remain clueless because the environment is more reserved than foreign countries where everything is discussed openly amongst girls and boys.

I do understand Mahjabeens mothers perspective though, not all mothers become their gaughters best friend especially from the generation her mopther belongs to and remain more reserved. I do feel she doesnt discuss anything with Mahjabeen because she feels Mahjabeen is too dumb to understand but it was wrong to just throw her clueless daughter into a marriage like that. Maybe she thought her husband will teach her himself? 😂

Mahjabeen is not that dumkb, her instincts already tell her to beware of Sarwar even though nobody told her his intentions. Like that scene when she says to Abdullah that she feels comfortable when he touches her but not when Sarwar does.

Love that scene and not just because of the chemistry but because how well it got the point across. It's a sensitive topic and they managed to portray it so sincerely and responsibly.

That's the thing, Mahjabeen doesn't get enough credit. If only she had been valued more she could have grown from her shortcomings. Like every time there is a scene of her complimenting Abdullah, I am just like damn! She does so much for him in that moment without even knowing it. How many people are so generous and so genuine with their words like that? She may not be very bright but she is helping Abdullah so much and neither she nor anyone else even realizes it.

its really sad :( there are people with certasin issues and shortcomings and as you said they just need more attention and encouragement/support than others do...even im one of those people and i feel if my parents had guided/encouraged me properly i wouldnt have such low confidence but they have always been way too protective about me because of my eye issues they always felt i could not do certain things like normal people they never let me cook, travel or let me be independent etc which really affected my life. Okay im done ranting now 😂

Girl rant away, it can be cathartic. Anyone can have shortcomings but it is very much possible to tackle them and overcome them given support and encouragement. You have been in that position where your parents did what they felt was best for you which was being overly protective. Parents mean well but sometimes what they think is best for their child may not actually be what's best for their child regardless of their experience. If you had been given more independence and encouragement maybe things would have been different for you? Everyone should be given a chance to learn and grow. Unfortunately, many times parents like to take the route of protecting their child instead of letting them fall and then learning to get up themselves. They don't really consider the future at that point. They won't always be around their child. They don't realize that as their child grows they will mature and develop their own thoughts. If as a parent you don't equip your child with the tools to face the future head on, how will your child navigate and tackle it as an adult? The world is constantly changing, their experiences will not be the same as their child's. Being overly protective will end up being more of a hindrance.

Look at Mahjabeen, she was so sheltered that she has never known how evil people can be. She easily trusts everyone and doesn't understand that people can have bad intentions. She has intuition but right after being touched and hit upon by her father in law she went out with him. Girl you were just told your father is sick, if Sarwar is insisting you guys go for lunch why don't you just make a hue and cry about it? Your father is sick so get to him or at least call your parents up first before you leave the house. Apart from not helping her out with school, her parents didn't even bother to teach her common sense. They keep saying she is innocent and naive so like why did you not do anything about it? I get it they love her and mean well but all they have done is severely hinder her growth.

Yeah i agree, a lot of parents choose the easy way to protect their child than whats right. Like they find it easy to keep them caged in because its more difficult to watch their child fail and get hurt in order to learn.

I still wish they show more of Mahjabeens background, why she is the way she is, why her parents are that way, they need to explore it more because im sure the majority of audience is still clueless.
