Chapter 19 – The Dark Truth
Mr Bajaj didnt know what to do, he didn’t want to kiss her like that but the way she looked that day and the fact that she had started caring for him made him forget everything and he cannot help but think what might have happened had that shout not interrupted them.
He needs to stop doing this needs to stop being a fool to think that she might feel something for him, She loves him. It was just a moment it was nothing but a moment and that is what he will cherish for the rest of his life. Prerna and Mr bajaj lived like this for the next few days it was almost as if they were back to square one, they only talked about Kukki and it became an unknown pact to not talk about that night. He knew what he had to do and he would ask Mr Mehra to get the divorce papers ready.
After somedays, Mr Bajaj reached the office he found that everything was in chaos and didn’t understand what was going on. Mr Mehra came and told him the complete story. The Basus have done the deed a big article explaining Mr bajaj past and the whole court case was published in the newspaper and the news had spread like wildfire. Every news channel was talking about it. It was very bad publicity for them. At Bajaj Mansion Prerna had just returned with Kukki from school and She found a dozen of reporter blocking their way. Prerna asked the guards to handle while she picked up Kukki in her arms and took her inside the house. The reporters kept asking her question one after another berating them and she had enough when she shouted
“Enough. I said enough. No Comments Please”
Once she was home Kukki was too scared to leave her side. She asked the servants to put on the news channel and that was when she found it on the news
“RISHAB BAJAJ – SON OF A MURDERER AND CORRUPT JOURNALIST”
There were old photos of cases, old matter related to the court case and it was being flashed on every news channel. She tried calling Mr bajaj
“Prerna. Aap aur Kukki theek hain.Aap log ghar se bahar mat nikalyega kuch time ke liye main aa jaongo thodi der main ok”
“Hum log theek hain. Kya app theek hain“
“mujhe Aadat hain. I am fine. Aap log apna dhyan rakhiye”
Kukki was playing with her toys when Anurag came to meet her.

Laut aayo Prerna warna barbad kar dega who tumhe.”
Unknown to them Mr Bajaj was at gate hearing this conversation.
“main hoon tumhare saath darne ki zaroorat nahin hain tumhe”

It was night time and Mr bajaj still hadn’t come out of his study. After sometime Prerna entered Mr bajaj Study with a plate of food. Mr bajaj was standing at the window.
“Please kuch kha lijiye.”
“Rakh dijiye. Main Kha lunga.”
Prerna served a plate went near him When he didn’t respond she took a bite and offered him. When he didn’t take she touched his face and tried to make him look at her.
“Please leave, main nahin chahta ki kuch aisa hoon hamare beech ki I am not able to look you in the eye.”
“Jo hua apne akele ne nahin kiya, hum dono the waha Par yeh waqt in sab baato ka nahin hain”
“Mat pocheye, Main aapko nahin bataonga ki mere aur basus ke beech main kya hua tha, mujhse mat pocheye, mujhse nahin bataya jayega bahut kadwi hain, zahar ban gayi hain ab mere andar hi rehti hain who yaadein aur use bhi badi baat main aapki aankhon main apne liye dar aur nafrat nahin dekh paonga. Please”
“Kai bar kadwi cheezein pini padti hain apne aap ko theek karne ke liye, zahar ko sarir se nikalna padta hai nahin to woh mar deti hain hume. Dekhiye meri taraf Please”
Rishab sat on the ground and took out his mother’s ring.
“Meri mom was a brilliant journalist but she only made one mistake she fell in love with abhishek Mukherjee. He was a monster a master manipulator. Usne unhe sabse dur kar diya. Tab Mr Basu, Mohini basu aur meri mom they used to be good friends infact main mr basu ko sir bolata tha. Mohini basu ko sir ka maa ka favour karna pasand nahin tha. Kuch dino ke baad maa ne article publish kiya jiski wajah se Mohini bas uke father ki sari mills sab band ho gaya and she was fuming. One night my father got completely drunk and trashed our house. My mother tried to stop but she couldn’t my mother ran to the bathroom. Wahan ki wiring thodi theek nahin thi.My mother had hidden me but I could hear the sounds and when I couldn’t bear it anymore, I ran to the bathroom my mother was on the floor in a blood of pool. I just couldn’t take it anymore, there was a stick nearby and I was about to attack him when he slipped and fell on the floor. It was wet and just then a wire fell on it and he got electrocuted and died.”
Rishab was shivering and She could see the 10-year-old kid and the fear in his eyes.

Prerna held him like that for along time and when he was about to relax himself he continued “Mrs Mohini basu just pahuchi thi wahan par aur unhone sab kuch dekh liya. Police came and they didn’t say anything to anybody. Mom ko hospital le jaya gaya and then she was prosecuted for murder charges. Maa ne sara inzlam apne upar le liya, who mujhe jail jane ka risk nahin lena chahti thi. Dada ne sabne promise kiya ki hamari help karenge unhone maa ki bail karwayi. Mohini basu ki gawahi sabse zaroorithi as she was eye witness. Court case se ek din pehle who hamse milne aayi.Unhone maa se kaha ki agar woh chahti hain ki kisiko kuch pata na chale to unhe Publication unke naam pe karni hoga aur unke father ke naam par jo report chapi use revoke karke sab kuch apni galti bataye. Maa dari hui thi aur unhone unkibaat man li. Court case ke kuch din pehle who article chapa tha sabne maa ko corrupt man liya. Maa case har gayi aur unhe jail ho gayi. She died in jail after somedays. Main sab kuch har gaya, sab kuch kho diya maine.” and he brokedown in tears in Prerna’s lap.
Suddenly Rishab was in an old roomall alone. He was surprised as to what was going on here and he found himself in the same place in the same room that he has had seen years ago. His mother was sitting there broken and hurt. Mohini Basu had just left. A small 10 yearold Rishab went near her mother and asked her not to cry and then her mother said -
“tu bhi to waise hi ban gay ana, tune bhi to wahi kiya na Prerna ke saath. Jis tarah meri majboori ka kisine fayda uthaya tha waise tune kisiki majboori ka fayda uthaya. Kya fark hain kya farkhai”
“No” and with that Mr bajaj woke upfrom the deep sleep shouting.
“Mr bajaj Mr bajaj kya kar rahin hainaap”
“dor rahiye mujhse. Unke jaisa bangaya main. Unke jaisa ban gaya main”
“Mr bajaj look at me look at me, stopit mr bajaj you are not like him. You are not like him. You are not your father;you are the best father anyone could ever had. You are not him. Aapne mere saath shayad galat kiya par apni beti ke liye kiya ho sakta hain aap selfish bane apni beti ke liye but aap unke jaise nahin hain. Main keh rahin hoonaapse, main keh rahin hoon I don’t blame you aapki koi galti nahin hain, aapki koi galti nahin hain” and she tried to get him to sleep.
Hey sorry I had missed some parts read them together... Felt really bad for Rishab he had such a dark past and everyone took advantage of it and exploited them... I am happy Prerna is there with him to support and take care... I hope she realizes her love for him soon..and confess to him.. so that he comes out of the guilt and promise he made to kukki... Anyways please continue soon... Take care :)
