I finally finished watching 😛 But I am not very satisfied..... I can't really pinpoint at what was missing....but the end wasn't upto my satisfaction. It looked very rushed & abrupt to me, no idea if I am feeling like this because I binge-watched 😆 But I am feeling like something was missing.... Woh wah! wali satisfaction nahi aya.🤔

I agree. I felt there needed to be some more episode between the war & rajyabhishek.

Yes...there was just 2 episodes after the war. It seemed they just hurriedly went to Rajyabhishek & finished the show. It didn't look like a proper closure.

In my overall review, I would say I am pretty pleased with the show. I know the story has been distorted a lot, but few of them actually make better sense to me than how it was in original epic. I am not taking it as The Mahabharata. I am taking it as a retelling of Mahabharat for today's viewers. For that they had to make few changes to appeal to today's viewers, had to add few explanations to make us, 21st century audience, accept it ....so overall I don't hold it against them. The set & costumes were grand, really eye pleasing & the musics.....the musics were just great. And I feel the castig were pretty superb too. All the actors did fabulous job in their respective roles, especially the actors playing Shri Krishna, Arjun, Duryodhan, Dhritarashtra & the actresses playing Draupdi, Gandhari & Kunti. 😳

Overall it is a great watch if you are not a hardcore fan of Mahabharata & lose sleep over every small distortion. The only 2 things I hated in this show

1) Too much importance to only Arjun in the initial episodes where the other 4 Pandavas looked like extras & the awful romance between him & Subhadra. Things would have been better without this.

2) The whitewashing of Karn & absence of all the Karn vs Arjun duels where Arjun beat him fair & square. Even the Virat war, where Arjun had single handedly vanquished the whole Kuru Army + Karn, was reduced to a personal duel between Karn & Arjun with a tie between them as Bhisma interfered & stopped the 2 from fighting. 🥱 And guess why they were absent? Because they wanted to portray Karn as someone on Arjun's level, maybe even better given how he was killed in Kurukshetra. This thing I never can digest 😵

Over all my rating 3*/5*

I deducted 1* solely for the whitewahing & glorifying of Karn and rest 1* for everything else combined 😆

You should watch Surya Putra Karn and Karan Sagini next🤣

I would give the show 4/5. ESP for extra one point for casting SRJ as Lord Krishna

*bold i totally agree on this point. if you look at it as a retelling for the newer generations, it doesn't seem all that bad. it conveys the basic message of mahabharat.

*italics- that is one of very few things i hated abt SPMB. they totally skipped the virat war and reduced arjun to karn's level . plus i absolutely hated whitewashing of karn.

overall i would give it 3.7/5

Yeah.... even I disliked few things about it....but I guess we can't overlook the fact that it was a television drama & it has to appeal to today's viewers to make it run and many things in the original epic are....not very relatable to us since our moral values & mindsets have changed significantly from the time Mahabharat was originally created. SP tried to spin the events in ways so that we, 21st century viewers, can relate them. They succeeded in few, failed in few. I personally found few incidents in SP Mahabharat portrayed better than the original story. And to be fair to them, they do run a disclaimer that this show has been "based on" mythological stories & its purpose is to entertain the viewers & so there are dramatization & exaggeration. They do not claim to follow the mythology strictly. So yeah.....I am not taking it as The Mahabharat, I am taking it as a retelling of Mahabharat & they did a good job with that. The basic essence of Mahabharat have been kept intact yet the story has been presented in a more relatable way. It's not like the few things they changed...made any impact on the base story. Apart from Karn's character.🤔

I really hate how they portrayed Karn & spread this misconception among viewers that Karn was superior than Arjun. They removed all the fights where Arjun triumphed over Karn & exaggerated the Kurukshetra fight & even put a seal of approval on Karn's capability by Shri Krishna himself. And in Karn's Deathbed they even made Arjun agree that Karn was better than him. Lol 😆😆 This was beyond retelling, this was totally remodelling & rewriting 😆😆 I don't understand what was the problem if Karn was depicted as how he really was? Why this whitewashing was necessary? If it was anyone from the Pandav camp, I would have understood that they were the heroes, so they can't be shown wrong or weak ....but Karn was on Adharm's side, this whitewashing was not even necessary 😆😆
