A ration shop helper found out to be corona positive in roopnagar .there are more than 1000 families which went to that shop .

The source of transmission is undetectable. There was no travel history, no meeting or coming in contact with corona person .

The worst response to Covid-19 in the world is from US administration. While there is effort to sweep everything under the carpet as politics, this does not have anything to do with politics. This is about how an administration is taking care of its citizens. As a lay person one cannot stop to wonder why the administration response is not even comparable to India which we often criticize.

Bloody administration officials come in TV and say disinfect everything. Where the ____ is disinfectant? They say wear Mask. Bloody _____, where is the mask? I dont get one. I dont get paper towel. I dont get toilet paper. I dont get anything at all. I saw only one substandard mask in Amazon for $30 and it comes from Wuhan according to one star reviews.

In Amazon they sell this alcohol lazed sponge that they throw in new laptop boxes for $10 or $20.

The president did not even enact the Defense Production Act for life saving ventilators.

This orange monkey Mary Antoinette is keen on killing everybody. For him only the stock market matters. Stock market has to go to 30000. For that companies have to sell 10cents stuff for $100 and the administration is so happy. There is no need to bother about the daily needs of the people because it is all Obama's fault. $%^%$@#

I am against capitalism now. Administration paying trillions of dollars to crooked, liar companies like Boeing. Companies in Amazon are charging $30 for a cloth facemask. America is broke. I am starting to hate America for the first time in life.

Another aspect is how the Government is tracking the people affected. In India I hear every third day health officials are visiting my relatives. Here, governor is coming and saying in April that he does not know that people without symptoms can spread the disease.

It appears we are good with ventilators as it appears States over estimated it. But having the states to bid on these resources is just crazy. There was glaring absence of federal Govt in the whole management.......the fact that the US has some of the best biotech labs and scientists in the world is partly because of it's entrepreneurial system. Also, it's people like Bill Gates that funded a lot of U Wash's medical research.

The flip side is that because of the demonetization of government in the US, mostly by right wingers (*), it's been starved of some of the talented people and resources that could handle a crisis like this. Sweden, Germany etc. (although they used different approaches) seem to have handled the crisis much better because people trust government and they have competent public sectors. Even India has done a very good implementing the lockdown (modulo the migrant worker mess up) -- whether you agree with the lockdown or not, its been administered well by civil servants.

And,.....yess,...What about price gouging. Already, the guy in power is well known for immoral, unethical and corrupt practices in his personal life. Now, every day he is saying stock market is going to skyrocket and I see price of essential goods skyrocketing everyday. Why cant he say a single word that administration will take action against price gouging. Why cant he say that he will make sure people will have essential supplies such as masks.

I see Capitalism and entrepreneurship as a victim to this virus situation. Imagine all those entrepreneurs who had a thriving business and some who were in the initial stages of it. They are getting killed and hopes of entrepreneurship receives a setback. They might have to be skilled and line up Corporate or Govt jobs.

Lack of PPE for healthcare workers is deeply worry. When you hear the news nurses were suspended because they refused to work without N95 mask.. it paints a bad picture. How much do you need to ramp up supplies of those ?

We still do not have enough PPEs for health care workers - Why?

Why not use the defense production act to get that?

We do not have enough tests so that everyone with even mild symptoms can be tested?

It has been more than 3 months since WHO declared this as global health emergency - why no progress on all these yet?

Its a shame that the right wing only wants the lock down to end but is not asking its governments to create the condition needed to end the lock down.

We are supposed to wear face masks -- where do we buy it from? Why no mass manufacturing even 3 months later?

The orange dude comes on TV everyday and blabbers but why no action on these and more important stuff?

Is there no competent person in this administration who understands that to get the economy open we need PPEs, masks, testing etc..

Like I said already many a times, I am against just Blind testings, a sits waste of Money and not sure,..

You only test if somebody is suffering from even mild symptoms and then do contact tracing, isolation and the whole exercise.

Yes there are problems in testing and limitations too. However the point is to test because many are asymptomatic and could have already spread the disease before they were identified.

Example: if X has showed symptoms and tested positive today. Y is one among the 10 friends that X had partied with 6 days back. May be Y is already infected or not. If he is tested and is negative then the focus can be on the rest 9. Efforts don't need to be wasted on Y and the people he may have come in contact with in the 6 days after he met X. In the absence of testing there is no option but to quarantine Y and his contacts - quarantining itself has its own monetary and social costs which can be potentially avoided if good, reliable testing is available.

The current testing is a huge problem. 30% are returning negative and are later becoming positives. That is why at this stage there should be lock down so that no one parties.

Also many come out of covid are becoming positive.

I don't have any problem with more testing ( if it was so cheap n' easy ) . Some people are making it a political weapon to attack. Like not enough testing is being done and so on when the problem is itself huge.

Any diagnostic kit has false- positives and/or negatives. In case of Covid unfortunately it is going to be a case of learning and adapting on the go. Diagnostic tests cannot the sole test it looks like - Doctors will have to use their judgements. Rolling or geographically strategic lockdowns could become a norm.

I am pro-lockdown for as long as possible but everyone knows it can't be forever. I don't about US but in India the situation of poor people (left with no money or work now) and stranded labour is dire. In our area a migrant labour was crying and begging a govt official by touching his feet to let him go home to his family to his ailing mother who needs help. There are no good answers - only bad and worse answers.

Because we do not have competent govt working for the people.

I know, it is what it is and we all have to accept this is how it will be and not ever expect a better govt because thats an impossible wish which will never come true.

We the people can keep sucking up and accept it as our fate or maybe not.

The US government is doing the same. The monkey government does not want to aid production of essential goods because they believe in capitalism prices are set automatically by supply and demand and if prices are high, go and die.

No. Govts can do more or better but in the Covid situation it is the science that will not and cannot catch up with the virus before it kills people. Even if govts do everything correct, perfect diagnostic tests with zero false results, medicines tat cure patients, and a vaccine that is safe and effective cannot magically appear - and all of them in the huge numbers needed - in a couple of weeks or even months. Good governance is absolutely critical for taming Covid but sadly not sufficient. This is not to absolve any politician but just the practical reality.

Taiwan did 3 things right (that's why their deaths are still in single digits(6), infected cases less than 500)

1. Drastic Ramp up of production in producing masks

2. Use technology very heavily for early detection and contact tracing

3. Due to past experience in handling Chinese disinformation, be very proactive in determining if there was human to human transmission early in the game

Many scientists' opinions also differ and in da past, I have posted many reliable web sites' links saying that the virus is identical to 95%, what is found in Bat.... and hence it's not factory driven,.... and yess,.... the test-kit results are also wrong due to body-created antibody and what not,.. Plus, even if a test is negative, the same guy/gal, til time goes to store touches 100s of surfaces and talks with 10s of mild infected persons closely, ( touches his/her masks 100s time to adjust , pulls on and off, makes it touching neck,.. though, not touching nose and mouth directly - But, Hey! wass' the diff.? ) so now (s)he is infected .....so wass' the meaning of testings and/or mask ? Hence, I all-ways emphasize on rather cure medicines and vaccines,.. to put effort for,...
