Barring a couple of exceptions, the dip in quality post the mid-80s is quite glaring.

Not so sure about Gully Boy being on there. It might feel iconic now because there's still buzz around it, but only time will tell if it truly becomes iconic.

There is a difference between popular films and iconic films Most people including seasoned journalists miss this simple point. I doubt if they even know what an iconic film is.

Quite a few films in the above list are not iconic at all, for instance Deewar is a really good film but it is not iconic at all.

The list does not even mention

Satya,

Parinda,

Prahar,

Jewel Thief,

Kismet

Dev das and quite a few others

Not really, but many people talk about them fondly. Anything still remembered after so many years, has got to be good.
