Was Delhi-6 a masterpiece in retrospect?

Rakesh Omprakash Mehra is one of my favourite directors. In fact, I loved Delhi- 6 even when it released. Most people hated it. My friends wanted to walk out at the interval.

I re-watched Delhi-6 today, and still really enjoyed the movie. Don't get why people dissed it so much.

Severely underrated overall. Excellent first half. Top rate soundtrack from ARR. And what's not to like about AB Jr? Even Sonam has never looked so beautiful as she did in this movie.

Mehra took all the social capital he made from Rang De Basanti, and spent four years of his life making a movie where he tried to extrapolate ideas about communalism and class via the chase for a dude dressed as a monkey. Brilliant strategy!

I loved the movie. Do give your opinions.

Profound layered script

Director was unable to execute it clearly, impressively, convincingly & in an engaging way on screen.

No. The black comedy in the last 20 minutes didn't work. Beautifully shot though with a great OST.

execution went wrong. I enjoyed watching the movie tho. I feel Delly Belhi is a criminally underrated movie.

It's a great movie...very subtle.. something you can learn from. The plot was great. I think people don't get along with subtle plots really well. This movie very artistically talks about dark aspect of human behaviour. It talks about the correct way of seeing things is based on humanity and not on religion. I thoroughly enjoyed the movie.

There was something missing. Can't put my finger on it ( except for my irrational dislike towards Sonam Kapoor). Maybe a bit chaotic for me.

The movie's music was a masterpiece though. Nothing to fault there.

But surely this is a movie which garners more praises with time than at the time of its original release.
