Its clear being quarantined is getting to some 😆
One honest opinion is if you watch a film at age 10, 20, and 30 all 3 times you’ll feel different stuff. Issues that didn’t appear the first or even second time will crop up the third time

Katrina... I didn't say she's great. Simply that she's not as bad as people say she is. Quite watchable in ZNMD actually. New York was all right, too.
Kajol is one of that rare breed in Bollywood. An actress who's well read. And not just the pretentious Booker prize kind either. She reads all kinds of books and always has one with her.I do agree that hasn't translated very well in her interviews. Katrina is limited. She's a star and not an 'actor'. She works very hard and within her limits she'll do a fine job. But give her a role which is out of her range and you can see her falter.
Hindi movie industry does not have real star directors. That is, taking a new comer and have the guts to churn out hit by your name alone. (Southern Industry once had. People like Bal Chandar/Puttanna Kanagal mainly used freshers and gave hits by their name).
Man Mohan Desai or Yash Chopra, they always worked with established names (both male and female leads).
Subhash Ghai has one "Hero", where both leads were new comers. Rest had male lead who was an established star.
I am not sure about the pulling factor of Sanjay Dutt during Munnabhai. Having said, Hirani was not a known name either. After that series, Hirani has always experimented with a known star.
SLB tried with Saawariya (new comers) but failed.
KJo has one SOTY.
Mahesh Bhat's statistics are good. But all his hit movies had great music. Music director should take equal credit for the success of those movies. (Pulling factor for audience in those movies were not Mahesh Bhat or the leads; but songs).
Don't know any new comer movies directed by Aditya Chopra.

The TM has ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA about the legacy of the great Yash chopra.
HE MADE srk, it is NOT the other way round.
Yash Ji was a very well established legendary name when srk was maybe in his diapers or used to crawl on floor.
He has directed blockbuster memorable and TRULY ICONIC movies in 60's 70's & 80's like dhool ka phool (black & white), Waqt, trishool, Silsila, Kabhi kabhi, Ittefaq, Deewar, Lamhe, Chandni and many others and was one of the top most celebrated directors.
He gave the break to hukla in Darr followed by dtph, ddlj & mohabbatin (his son's directorials) veer zara & jthj.
Infect srk should be eternally grateful to Yash ji to make his career, alongwith johars as well.
Log jo dil mein aata hai likh kay bhaag jaatay hain with no or minimal faulty knowledge, 😡
Literally....SRK is probably the most unduely over hyped actor second only to Karan Johar ki beti Alia 😭
(And notice how Shahrukh was super close to kjo back in the day too 🤔...)

Yeah not enough people take outsider newcomers anymore....
The irony is a lot of films would have actually fared better if they had chose fresh faces who really suited the lead roles rather than just taking whoever is already famous...or worse still some undeserving star kid!

Baazigar released hardly 2 weeks before Darr,
raju bann gaya was hardly an average flick at boxoffice, not even a semit hit
he played second fiddle in many flop movies before darr like dil aashna hai, maya, king uncle etc
being a known upcoming actor does NOT mean that he did some favor to such legendary banners & directors, as I said it is the OTHER WAY ROUND.
it is srk who benefited all the way throughout his career span from yrf and dharma at start, mid, and final stages of his career.
BANNERS makes actors, its not the other way round
stuck in a very safe zone with mainly 2 banners only in same kind of formulaic films throughout one's career-line for more than two decades is certainly a massive dis-credit at an actor's end.
Even if his supporters tend to disagree as usual. ...facts are facts.
Exactly! And now that YRF/Dharma isn’t with him anymore he’s giving back to back flops...while Salman, Amir got more and more successful making their own films....
It’s clear that along with being a weaker actor than the other two Khans he also has terrible script sense 🤷🏽♀️

Situation is even tougher today (for new comers), as movies have to make majority of the profit in the first week itself. Only established names can achieve that.
So, what should movie makers do if the movie needs freshers? At least bring a girl or boy associated with established name. Sridevi's daughter, Amitabh Bacchan's grand daughter etc. Nepotism is unfortunate. But from producer's point of view, it becomes a necessity.
( Other alternative is get a good music. But studios do not want to share profit with the artists who created the song. Artists are still struggling to get royalties. Aashiqui 2 made 150 crores. How much were the musicians and singers paid, who contributed to its success? )

The well read claim is what I don't understand. Kajol has said she reads all the romance novels. Those don't make a person well read. Booker prize type novels only makes a reader a bit of an elitist, but pop culture books deffo don't qualify her as well read. I'm not surprised she comes across as an idiot if that's all she reads.
I didn't say Katrina was great, just that she's not as bad as she is purported to be.
I posted this on Reddit but now looking to get your thoughts too: I am excited about the new crop of actors we have. There is certainly some...
