Hi guys!

I think Nanu is not held accountable for how Meenakshi has turned out. Despite all his big talk, he is nothing but a mute spectator to Meenakshi's shenanigans. He is also blinded by love for his daughter because he is usually the one who bats for her when Abir has given up on her, like before MishBir's wedding.

I feel that his lack of strictness with Meenu has turned her into the monster she is. She has a raging ego, has no conscience and believes everyone is a pawn to achieve whatever it is she has set her mind to. Despite this, Nanu keeps parroting the line that 'Meenu jo bhi karti hai sabke bhale ke liye karti hai'. How about NO?!

When a person feels their actions have no consequences, they start losing their sense of right and wrong. At least all the other characters have people who rein them in, Meenakshi doesn't. Abir doesn't count here because Meenakshi sees him as her dheet beta. Only when she is told that she is wrong by someone like Nanu will she change.

My reaction when Nanu starts giving gyaan-

He is really a useless parent. Meenu has taken over and he has no qualms in inflicting her on his family and now another family.

What say?

If in real life it is difficult for a single woman to survive and become sucessful as a sweet or soft hearted person. Some days ago there is article on about ekta kapoor bossy nature where she shared her experience that she has to take work from male employees who actually didnot like to take orders from female boss so to tackle such tough situation u need to become tough and hard person. Now as per story there was a time where meenu has to take care of everything alone her brother is also not have a strong personality like abir and kunal for a long time actually meenu play the role of a strong man of the family . In that process she actually become too hard that its difficult for her to act like a very polite and soft person . She is actually like a coconut who's inner part is soft but it's too difficult to crack it. Continues conflict with abir has make her more harder with time. Like when meenu make parul arrest she is the one who actually brings food to her also and at the same time says thanku to her. So we can clearly saw her genuine side even when parul come from police station kunal will take care of parul but meenu didn't feel bad. During ribbon cutting ceremony kunal gave all the honour to parul but meenu has to face the all questions it is too humiliating for any mother and businesswoman that the company established by her hard work and son raised by with so much love has not just called someone else mother but also gave credit of his upbringing to other women with whom her husband once cheated her . All past come infront of her and moreover people aske questions about her . Noone asked questions from kunal or parul here despite of all question she just about fall infront of god at temple not infront of the public . It clearly shows how much she is mentally and emotionally strong. The person who has the ability to make her feel better is neither heard her nor saw her pain and moreover challenges her .i.e abir. Definitely such challenges are come in her life earlier also which make her more tough and hard person.

Nanu's moves have been a bit confusing for me. I am not really sure how to judge him because he has tried to put points in front of her but then she counters him every time with the same point that he didn't work hard enough to stop her from marrying Mehul and that is why they are in this situation. So, maybe that guilt is too much for him and that is why he doesn't continue to stop her from scheming.

Also, a thing that I noticed is that he never tells Meenu when he sends Abir and Kunal away like during the offsite and now with this honeymoon and nor do the boys inform her. What is that about?

meenu may be a good person but that goodness only comes when she gets what she wants...her each and every action as a scheme... without scheming she wont live... the scheming she does in name of parivar ki ekta but this will never achieved until she mend her ways...she is very strict but she needs control on everything and if she looses control she become what she is today...

family never will run by dictatorship... u need everyone for that... everyone should be responsible to be together in family... it is not sole responsibilty of meeenu...

I actually felt bad for Meenu today when she is shown saying that just like how Abir used to leave her alone, Kunal has started following the same too. Even the scene where Kunal cooks food for her was so touching, both of these scenes depicted how Meenu is like any other person who craves for love.

In the present scenario her actions are a result of the fear that Kunal would grow distant from her. In a way it is endearing to see her possessiveness for Kunal (considering that it has always been Abir who was her "favourite") I guess seeing Kunal addressing Parul as "Maa" might just have made Meenu realize that how much her younger son's allegiance, love and loyalty towards her matters to her and she simply cannot afford to lose it.

I wish Naanu scolded Abir for callously calling her mother's actions as melodrama when really she had a valid reason to be very hurt. It was Abir who was being insensitive there. Wouldn't call Naanu a useless parent tho, after a point what children do or how they behave is not necessarily in the hands of parents. In fact even if he suggests something it is more or less a given that Meenu wouldn't listen to him.

@pallavi- That would be true except Meenu is no feminist. She just wants power for herself and as she herself has said, she wanted bahus 'jo dikhti hain par sunne mein nahi aati'. Personally, I see no soft side to her. Even with the logo launch lafda (lol), she seemed more angry that Parul was given more importance over her than her feeling jealous about Kunal's affection which would have been more palatable. Her true feelings for Parul also shone through when Parul came to the office. Her inner monologue was about how it was to show Parul her place and that she can never be equal to Meenakshi. That struck me as being extremely mean and narcissistic. Meenakshi seems to use the carrot and stick approach. She put Parul in jail but brought her food but in my opinion, that doesn't make up for what she did. Being jailed is highly traumatic. Parul was so scared and felt so humiliated. In that moment, Meenakshi didn't care about Parul's feelings so long as she could use her to blackmail Abir. The office scene also shows that ultimately, Parul is a charity case to her. Meenakshi seems to enjoy the power she has over Parul because of her ehsaan but when it actually came to Parul becoming her equal, she decided to crack the whip. That line shows her real opinion of Parul.

@beguiling- You know, I so wish that were true but I somehow didn't see that insecurity. I saw glimpses of it but I thought her urge to be the supremo won over. It mainly became Meenu vs Parul in her mind. Regarding Abir's reaction to Meenakshi, she only has herself to blame. She has time and again used these kind of situations to emotionally blackmail him and others. I too think revealing the truth suddenly in a press conference was unfair to Meenakshi but now that I think about it, she wouldn't have allowed it any other way.

Nanu- Well, one could say that but then in a traditional family like theirs where the elders have so much power, I really think Nanu could have cracked down on her. I agree with your point in a different way- Nanu should have reined her in when she wasn't out of control. What she is a symptom of his lack of disciplining. He has no real reaction to her shenanigans.

@ruhi- Agreed

@Aqua- Interesting point about Nanu feeling guilty. It's funny that Meenakshi blames him and is now also against love marriages.
