Former Miss World Aishwarya Rai deserves to be called "First Citizen" among the galaxy of Indian female stars as Amitabh Bachchan ranks first among male stars. Though 32 , she has already obtained a status of being one among the hundred top Indians . Before her entry into Bollywood, the female star was considered second sex. However, her performances in ' Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam', 'Devdas' and 'Chokher Bali' have raised female stars' status to that of first class. She has a universal appeal and this has been witnessed in her 'Bride And Prejudice', 'Mistress of Spices,' and 'Provoked'. Besides, she is likely to be signed for forthcoming projects like ' Umrao Jaan' and 'Akbar Jodha' too.

I think it is a bit silly and taking it to extreme to call her the 'first citizen' which is in fact reserved for the president of India! Her contribution to the film industry is significant but I don't think she has made any difference to the status of women in the industry. Yes, she is very good-looking - no two opinions regarding that.
