I couldn’t understand all the dialogues. I thought they were battered women in a shelter. But were they rape victims shunned by their families?

They have all been raped and killed. The house is symbolic of a heaven like shelter place for all the women who were raped and killed. Like the muslim woman says she was burnt, Neha Dhupia said she did because of post trauma depression. They have named Kajol's character Jyoti, which is the real name of Nirbhaya. And the last girl you see wearing the violet frock with two ponies is Asifa.
It was so beautifully painful. I cried at the end even thou i knew what was coming ahead

Oh damn 😢. Is there a version of it with English subtitles? I need to watch it again.
Thanks for the explanation.
Just finished watching it . A well made short film . Everybody did justice to the role . The entry of that little girl was heartbreaking . 😭

I think they will put up subtitles soon hopefully. Will notify you incase they do!
It made me so sad to see this and especially the entry of the little girl at the end.
But I question what good this will do? Everyone will talk about it here, on SM, there might be some discussion about it in interviews for a few months, and then? And while everyone is chatting about this, will this affect what is actually happening out there? No. Making movies and breaking people's hearts who are already aware and hurting from this is not going to do anything.
