Thappad Has Poor Start

Thappad had a poor start of pretty of 10-12% but it is better than Panga but that is hardly a plus. Panga collected 1.70 crore nett on day one and Thappad is looking comfortably more and the potential to show some growth in the evening.

The collections are lower than Chhapaak which was another film in the same zone. Thappad had nothing going for it and the audience has been rejected these sort of films for that 4-5 months be it Saand Ki Aankh, Chhapaak or Panga. The only one which did decent business was Mardaani 2.

Thappad will get growth on Saturday which is the norm now and it could be even huge growth like Panga which more than doubled but the test is always on Monday and it will be the Monday that will decide the fate of the film. The best business is in Delhi NCR which is another signal of big growth on Saturday as this are jumps huge. The collections in other metros be it Mumbai, Pune or Bangalore are much weaker than Delhi NCR.

There was another film Doordarshan which managed to get one show at many multiplexes but probably did not deserve to get as there are no collections.

That's true but the tone they use for female-centric films reeks of contempt

Certain people in Bollywood are no different. Zoya Akthar and naseerudin shah both have made comments that certain films shouldn’t have been made and are getting sequels. Who are they to proclaim that. The contempt is strong in everyone not just boi

It goes both ways. Sone critics and site look down upon certain genres because that doesn't fits the taste of red wine sipping crowd. They mock them.

A group of friends went to watch this movie - all guys and one of them told me this is a movie that really tells you about a person - there is no left wing right wing conservative liberal...nothing. If you understand the movie, then you are WOKE, if not you are chauvinist. It’s not about liking it is about watching it understanding and realizing all need to watch it..either to understand or to show what kind of person you are. Ismei ya tum chauvinist ho ya humanist .... tum jo ho saamne aa jata hai.

Another friend said and that is what makes everyone uncomfortable and that is why they don’t want to go and watch this movie...

One friend even said he sees the male type behaviour in his house all the time but never a thappad so he doesn’t see the problem in his house..

We are a country where we are on the road killing each other in the name of religion, we rape girls every half an hour, we watch movies that show women in the worst light and make them into super duper hits...

Are we ready for a thappad? Oh yes, cinematically and literally!
Will it be a hit? Oh no, because if these types of movies became hits, that is the sign that these movies need not be made. The fact is becos the other types become such huge hits, we need movies like this.

That conundrum of we need such movies but who will make them if they flop is what even a trade article must address, this kind of writing is just disgusting on so many levels. And frankly their grammatical errors bother me even more

Umm.. yes both are wrong. But right now, we are talking about a movie like Thappad and whether this article has any effect on BO collections. The discussion is about Thappad and it’s BO collections and BOI ‘s articles that reek of misogyny. Zoya and Shah don’t write for BOI and their comments don’t really effect collections na.

How do we know BOI is downgrading the film just cause it’s subject. Maybe they saw it and didn’t enjoy it. From trailer it seems the film didn’t wanna tell a good story about domestic violence. It seems they wanted to stretch out everything on a slap.

Thappad is not about domestic violence

but re-considering one's standing in the relationship they are in

its much more profound subject than just violence

That’s very easy to find out, just track all of BOI’s articles- you will get your answer.

From the trailer, It seems they wanted to stretch out everything on a slap... dude, the movie is called Thappad, unless we watch the movie how will we know if the slap was a start point or an end point?!?!
