I wonder if they would have used the same term had it been a man.

The thing with feminism is that everything count. It's an everyday struggle to fight nor ormalized misogyny and belittling of women.

How sad. Geee, I wonder how belittled she felt for other women while supporting Salman and Hirani 🙄

While I agree with this partly, there are people who actually try. And by trying I mean through actions and simply by not putting it as a defence for self preservation or making dumbass statements. Feminism is already not taken seriously and BW stars who are perhaps the most influential in our society don't help the cause and women like Sonam,Swara and Kangana actually make it harder for other vocal women to be taken seriously. They undo a lot of work.

I don't think any of these BW actress or actors try or even, actually know feminism, it is just a shiny jewellery for them IMHO.

Because everyone of them, just used it for their convenience. Same with HW, who suddenly started acting like casting couch was invented in 2016, and all those hypocrites who celebrated and defended the likes of Woody Allen and Romam Polanski started to act like face of feminism.

Why is Anil silent on this matter? He has not tweeted or posted anything on IG regarding Mr. India reboot... 🤔 He should be the one making the statement if he was disrespected by the makers not his kids and wife.

Either Sonam wants to play Seema' part that she is crying the most (Will not use the word ranting because according to Sonam ranting sexist), or maybe Anil does want drag this in the media as this is a family problem between him and Boney but his kids want to drag AAZ and Zee to pressurize them to give in to their demands... for pr reasons a big studio might give in to stop the mud slinging. Sonam and co is using sentiments of public.

Even Shekhar Kapur is on full force trying to get some kinda right of his wrt Mr. India established so he can get a payout too I feel..

https://twitter.com/shekharkapur/status/1231216323549487104?s=20

I remember when Sri was alive and Boney wanted to do a sequel he said he is not involved in the direction but he was happy they were doing a sequel.

So Shekhar gave an interview after the rant he backtracked and said he was not miffed but he was just surprised. He admitted the reboot makers did not have to sought his permission or inform him... he talking about a moral right director have over a movie like Mr. india. He must have spoken with Boney after he tweeted.

----------------------

Filmmaker Shekhar Kapur is not “miffed” but “surprised” by the sudden announcement of a trilogy which will take his 1987 classic Mr India forward with the plot set in a contemporary superhero world. Here, he talks about why he feels the way he does. Excerpts:

Mr Boney Kapoor says he was the film’s sole producer and now he’s collaborating on this new project. What do you have to say?

I have no idea about what they are making, I saw it on Twitter. I am sure they will not be silly enough to repeat the characters of Mr India.

The makers have said this is not part 2 or a remake of the original film.

I am assuming they are just using the title.

Officially, should they have sought your permission for making the film?

Not if it’s a different film or a remake. But if they are picking the same/similar characters, then they definitely should have. A director has moral rights over his/her creation, especially in a film like Mr India.

What happened with the 3D version of the film being made?

That was a few years ago. We worked on it for a while but it didn’t go anywhere.

Personally, did you ever want the film to be remade or rebooted at all?

There have been films about the invisible man before and after Mr India. So I have no idea what a reboot means.

Or “re-imagination” as has been claimed...

Have no idea what it means.

You have said on social media that you’re not miffed

Yes, was just surprised.

Just some weeks ago, we were discussing what made Mr India iconic.

Mr India succeeded because of its characters. Arun bhaiya, Miss Hawa Hawai, Mogambo, Calendar, Daga, Teja, Dr Fu Manchu, Little Tina and the kids, the editor with constant wrong calls, the Baniya (Gai Bhains Paani Mein), Hanuman scene ( Indian God maarta bhi hai)... I could go on... It was not just a superhero story. And that is what makes Mr India live even today, so I am not sure what reimagining means. But... they have a director who has made successful films, so I am sure he has something completely different on his mind.

can't these people simply call ali or boney and settle such stuff privately? Why tweet about it and create this public drama? Ali and zee got the rights of the film from Boney, Boney is co-producing the new film, so ali and zee haven't done anything wrong as they got the rights from the original producer

if anil or shekar had rights on the film then they wud have tweeted about it, but shekar and sonam are tweeting about 'respect' and how they shud have been consulted before the announcement was made, it seems like they are mostly just hurt that they were not told about it and i am pretty sure they wud have wanted to be creatively involved with the film in some way

and why is anil's whole family commenting on it when anil has not tweeted anything about it

Salman is friendly with his exes, he is even friendly with Aishwarya in laws and Sonam gets along quite well with Katrina. So it's understandable that his equations with women don't come into play in their relationship.

Regarding Hirani, all the industry is still quite friendly with him and no one has shut him out. Moreover we didn't hear anything about the development so it might be Sonam was justified to stand with someone she was quite close with.

buddy, what Sonam did is called ranting. So calling it a rant, isn't sexist. Not the journos problem, Sonam is uneducated, and probably thinks screaming loudly and angrily is rant, and not whining in social media.

Am I the only one who never cared for this film 😆

That being said whats going on ?? Their making another Mr. India with no connection to the earlier film ?? They would still need the rights from Producer. IMDB says Boney Kapoor and Satish Kaushik are producers. SO as long as they have given the permission then whats the issue

You say she was ranting I say she was sharing her feeling and thoughts. Only she knows what was her intent on making it public.

Uneducated as in ? Are you using it as an insult ?

it seems like anil and shekar kapur feel they should have been consulted before the announcement was made, they feel they have creative rights over the film, even though legally they don't have rights over the film, Boney has the rights and he has given them to ali and zee to make the new movie
