If they did, than Sonam is justified to use the sexism card, if not then she should not use the word sexism so loosely, because it is because of convenience feminists like her, feminism and feminists get the image maligned.

Sonam objected against the word "rant" because there is nothing else in the article or tweet that can be considered anti-women.

She claims Boney's PR put out this article. The interesting part is that the article gives quotes from almost a year ago that Boney had made about the Mr. India reboot so Anil could not have possibly been unaware like Sonam is saying.

In May 2019, Boney Kapoor had already revealed that he's working on a 'Mr. India' sequel. In an interview with Midday, he had said, "The idea is to create a reboot first, and then, make a franchise of it. It needs to be made more contemporary. We have a basic structure in mind. We haven't decided on a timeline yet, but intend to make it soon."

The producer had also revealed that he is happy to take Shekhar on board. Speaking about the director, Boney said, "If Shekhar is free, he can direct it. The cast and crew made the film what it was, and if anyone from the original line-up wants to be part of it, they can join us again."

What I think happened is that neither Shekhar got to direct the film like Boney said nor Anil and his kids got to act in it. Earlier Boney seemed to be saying they could be involved if they wanted so now they're angry.

That is why I don't take any feminism speech or act from these opportunist seriously(including my favorites).

While I agree with this partly, there are people who actually try. And by trying I mean through actions and simply by not putting it as a defence for self preservation or making dumbass statements. Feminism is already not taken seriously and BW stars who are perhaps the most influential in our society don't help the cause and women like Sonam,Swara and Kangana actually make it harder for other vocal women to be taken seriously. They undo a lot of work.

It might be that it irked her because she felt they belittling her by using the word rant. Journalism and litterature go hand in hand and a word like rant was then used to downplay and disparage what she wrote.

I wonder if they would have used the same term had it been a man.

The thing with feminism is that everything count. It's an everyday struggle to fight nor ormalized misogyny and belittling of women.

Also Ali tweeted this news on 17th Feb, Shekhar reacted right away. It was all over news. And Sonam decided to react today after so many days. Pretty much looks like a famiy feud than anything else. Like one of the articles mentioned, just have a dining table conversation instead of ranting online.
