Episode 2

We are shown the bond which is between Bondita and her mother. Bondita wants her mother to be free and happy. She questions her indirectly that should we follow the norms which the society has made sacrificing our happiness? Her questions are of such maturity that even the wise elders of the village may become speechless. Her sweet innocence and curiosity is refreshing to see

The scene shifts to Anirudh's house. His two younger brothers are shown. the brothers are preparing for the birthday of their father and uncle. Its something great to see the boys dont want their father and uncle to fight on their most important day.

We here also meet Anirudh's love interest Saudamini. She is also in love with Anirudh and has waited a lot for him to comeback. Her confidence and love filled eyes do make me a bit sad but then some sacrifices are tend to be made for the greater good. To give one person justice thousands cant be denied that right

Bondita on the other hand is determined no to marry until and unless she is assured her mother is always with her. She decides to write a letter with some conditions on marrying him. She is intelligent to ask the biys to write the letter and getting the address by the letter which was sent to her uncle. This shows that she knows how to make her work done.

One more shift to Anirudh. While going from the cart Anirudh experiences the grievances of the world he hadnt seen before. He was riding and seeing the miseries of life. He is like Siddharth who had to go from his palace of luxuries to see the real world and its problems. Just like Siddharth even he is in his path of enlightment in terms of societal orthodoxy. And suddenly he sees Bondita running or maybe flying like a free bird who didnt even give a care for the cart coming in front of her. She slids beneath the cart and runs towards the post man. While she does This very thing it symbolises that she is never going to stop. She will face all the obstacles in her way to over come the path and reach her goal.

While the figure of Anirudh standing beheind her when she has reached her goal to me showcases that he is always there when she reaches her goal and supporting her from behind.

The puja of the Goddess Durga {She has many names so I am a bit apprehensive which form is the most worshipped on in Bengal so plz excuse me if I am wrong} in Anirudh's house. His uncle is shown as a Zamindar who is an orthodox traditional person. He dislikes the foreigners and this is why he is at loggerheads with his younger twin and Anirudh's father who is inclined towards the western culture. Both want Anirudh to go for different goals of life. And each one of them cant bare the other one. One hand there is a staunch follower of rituals and other hand there is a staunch hater of rituals.

Thats when Anirudh enters. His father isnt happy seeing his son back from London but his uncle is very happy misunderstanding the truth of his arrival. Saudamini feels shy and thinks Anirudh has come for their marriage due to which I did feel bad for her but sacrifices are needed. And the way the brothers had an embrace full of love was delightful.

And in the party when Bhaumik and Binoy are having a chat shows that Saudamini will be the perfect one for Anirudh infront of his father's eyes. Anirudh's teasing nature when it comes to tease his childhood friend. But he doesnt understand that he has lost his friend to the atrocities of the society.

All in all the episode was good but I felt Saudamini's entry could be more subtle than this.

I dont mean to offend anyone its my views on the episode. You may have differing views.
