The amount of time some are spending fault-finding in Maya, I wish some also spent a similar amount of time fault-finding in Mrityunjay as well. On one hand, we have a problem with Maya killing Rishi and Maya marrying Rudra and term it as unjustified and incest and God knows what. But when Mrityunjay resorts to heinous acts, we find his bad boy alpha wolf vibe attractive??
Why? Because Maya - the heroine should be fitting into the stereotype of being the adarsh nari and not resort to acts of crime. And Mrityunjay is supposed to fit into the stereotype of being the villain who is also attractive? Why is it so hard to digest a "grey" heroine? Why? Just because we are conditioned to expect women to be a certain way, they have to be. And men can be whatever they want to be. Why?
Women are not humans? If men are capable of doing good and bad, right and wrong, feeling good and bad, acting on those feelings, so are women. Its high time we learn to accept that. As far as the show is concerned, Maya is a flawed character, who is allowed to make mistakes, who is allowed to make her choices, who is allowed to say 'no', who is allowed to be what she chooses to be and also face consequences and results of her actions, and the same goes for Mrityunjay.
As far as Rudra is concerned, isn't he flawed too? He says he has the guts to walk out of the Roy mansion, but he did not. He says Rishi is his bachcha, but he failed to give him the proper values in perspective to life and women, he never contributed to how Rishi is being raised. He was self-consumed and emotional because of his mom and brother. But what about safeguarding them from Mrityunjay and his abusive persona. He did nothing, in fact, he inadvertently encouraged Mrityunjay to become more abusive by the day.
Mrityunjay and Maya's relationship was a fling (For MJ) and there was a child who was never born. It is the past. Everyone has past relationships. Hasn't there been shows like The Bold and the Beautiful, or hasn't there been shows like The Vampire Diaries. It wasn't incest, it was a relationship which broke and both moved on. If makers want to show something different, why is it so agonizing to accept. Just because they are American, and don't fit the Indian context. And there are so many ridiculous shows out there, which people lap it up and watch, then what is the harm in watching this?
And MayRa child, firstly they need to have one, secondly one of the partners will die is a high possibility. As far as raising the child is concerned, he/she will be raised the way it is deemed right - to be accepting, to be embracing of differences, to respect every person irrespective of their gender, to be respectful that every person has a life and they make mistakes and life is about learning from those mistakes and moving on, and most importantly, to be happy. The rest is inconsequential.
And this show isn't about moral science or even rocket science. It is just a show, let's just treat it as one. No point doing so much matha pachchi, the CVs don't and so shouldn't we.
These are just my thoughts, and with no intention to offend anyone.
