Thappad trailer preview: Taapsee Pannu film gets right what Kabir Singh got wrong

The film's trailer shows Amu (Taapsee), seeking a divorce after her husband (Pavail Gulati) slaps her in front of everyone at a party. The people around her consider the issue trivial, asking Amu to forgive her husband. Amu, however, fights back.

In sharp contrast, Taapsee's film Thappad shows that it is never okay to hit a woman. Not even once. And it is certainly not okay to expect the woman to be tolerant of this kind of behaviour, adjust around it and in the name of moving on, brush it under the carpet without addressing it.

Sounds like a fantastic concept and I hope the divorce is finalised and she doesn't go back to her husband at the end.

It will earn 100% more praise and critical acclaim than Kabir Singh and maybe Taapsee will end up winning best actress unlike Shahid, who lost out at awards functions because of the controversial subject

Nice one! A very very necessary concept. Thank god it’s being told. To the person who said it will not earn as much as kabir singh. and wife is expected to forgive and move on

Exactly and a lot of woman are attracted to sexy men like Kabir Singh. I’d love to have someone in my life like that who’d slap me and boss me around. I like it and it’s my choice
