As SH mentioned above^^ there are many non-masala female centric movies that did well. I think content is all what matters.

Men even have problems pushing out non masala movies

Actresses are not stars.. period

No I don’t think so..

they should also try doing action , comedy etc roles

people like entertainment and fast pace

they come to see film to forget about real life

it should be shot like a mass movie with that epic dhinchak music , dialogues etc

something should click with the audience, nahi toh it will be a flop

with panga, marketing was bad cuz i never knew this film is even coming out

Let's rephrase that. TODAY's actresses who are just big on social media and that's that.

For eg, the last of the female SUPERSTARS went out with Madhuri who genuinely had a lot of weight on a film's opening with the hero. Madhuri gave huge openings with a useless turd like Sanjay Kapoor as a co-star. For perspective, she gave a 73 lakh opening with Raja whereas in the same year a heavily hyped Karan Arjun got 80 lakhs. You had superstars like Sunny Deol at his peak and Rajnikanth playing flowerpot to Sridevi in chalbaaz where she was the HERO and got big openings.

Now whether the theatre-going audience has regressed, pseudo-woke or just simply these current actresses ain't good enough to carry that aura - y'all can spin it however you want.

Raja was a special case.. because of the music.. not going to Take anything away from madhuri though..

HIghway was a flop, it Was a media Made success thanks to Gangu papa. That’s why Alia is trying her luck with Sadak since she failed on the Highway

Finding fanny also had nore screen so yeah ..but fact remains the same alia will always be a bigger star

Highway was niche too and alia was a newcomer back then

DP or none of the actress in Bollywood has the starpower to make a bad film profitable, I agree. It's hard to believe people went to theatre to watch Alia that too her second film after the baby like acting in Students of the year. If DP is PR made star , Alia is KJO and media made star . Her acting is nothing extra ordinary. She performs average in every movie and the insiders praise them to the skies and media continues the same . That's the pattern .
