Its not about moral. Its more about execution. If you have watched Narcos, no one in right mind will root for Pabla Escobar morally. But execution forced viewers to connect with him so much that despite knowing he the true form of evil..you don't want his character to die. Nobody wants Maya to justify what she is doing. She can be emotionally fit person and still dark enough to kill someone to get what she wants.
ITv just can't handle properly. They will just justify the things even if it can't be justified.
That would be a different character.
Maya is not emotionally fit, has a God complex, makes everyone around her scapegoats like a narcissist, most likely to end up in an asylum.
She has always been a delusional character. Previously she was delusional regarding prince charming and fairty tales. She was basically Rishi. Now she thinks she has opened her eyes but instead she has entered another delusional dimension. Where she thinks God has chosen her as a vigilante to punish the sinners. She is consoling herself. That doesn't mean the makers are justifying murders. They are until now leaving every interpretation to the audience.
This is why I compared this with 'you'. Even there, the killer Joe's voice over always justifies his deeds. That doesn't mean we are supposed to think like that.
About execution, I agree it could have been better. But in you or narcos, the makers get much time. Even the writers and directors for each episodes are usually different in Hollywood shows. Here there are five 20 mins episodes per week. Plus instant trp and channel pressure. Just imagine how less time the writers and editors get. It could have been better but I don't think anyone other than a fictional insane character is justifying the murder. If they were then they would have shown Rishi as bratty as Ankit and wouldn't shoot the death scene in such a heart-wrenching manner. They made us feel for Rishi. That's why we could feel.
