Ok, shouldn't have used the word b*tch, apologies for that. But what I am trying to explain here is that I also mean the same. ITV writers are inconsistent while showing the 'darkness' of Beyhadh which they promote. They aren't able to maintain a character arc. There are way too many discrepancies. Dark characters emote differently, I get, but the problem is that ITV thinks darkness comes with killings and murders, which isn't the case. Darkness of a mind comes in various shades which they aren't willing to explore. How is Maya in S2 different than S1? How is the darkness different? She is still justifying her killing. It is just the same thing repackaged.
As far as extramarital affairs is concerned, I am not giving it too much thought before it plays out as to what happened. Let's see if it was Mrityunjay or someone else.
you articulate things so well.
Execution is the word of the day here, I will never get tired of using it. Okay let's say maya is beyhadh crazy, she drowned herself in hate and darkness. That still does not excuse the shoddy writing and execution. As someone said, in fiction, many things can be understood and accepted as long it is presented well.
Dark and violent characters have shades, but they emote differently. The character arc is very flimsy because it not really different shades, it is just different person. someone who murders in cold blood, cries, then goes about business. so should we see she is a sociopath who can become whoever she needs to be for revenge? but even that is contradictory because sociopaths don't feel like normal people. so what is maya jaisingh exactly? a hotchpotch, the creation of confused writers? ITV will always remain myopic no matter how innovative they claim to be because according to them, darkness comes from killing only. to ensure maximum darkness, make the death as disturbing as possible. the way maya executed this murder, it reminded me of a sociopath. this is not creative writing, it is a cheap ploy.
The reactions here are so visceral because last week, Maya was seducing rudra and giving him looks and this week she bled out someone. The transition was sudden and horribly rocky. Last week we had mayra and this week, doom. it went from 5 to a 100 with a snap of a finger. I haven't seen such bad execution and so many inconsistencies in a long time, and that is saying something since this ITV.
Here is what I'm sure happened. TRP's are dismal and cv's are testing what really works. Last week was all romance and this week is senseless murder. Rishi was always supposed to die but due to low trp's, they decided to prepone it. just so they leave no stone unturned to increase the ratings, they made sure that the death is disturbing and agonizing just for shock value, because it works on ITV. so the result is, rishi died sooner then planned. however, this move pretty much botched the story and maya's character. the time was not right and instead of developing the story more so people can understand why maya did this, they threw together this haphazard twist.
This is not about character arc, execution, writing, creativity or story. it is about trps
I hope the backstory of maya and MJ is strong. It's not only them having an affair and an unplanned pregnancy. Didn't maya's mom say she has a father and brother. I think MJ might have killed them. MJ must be very evil for anyone to even come close to sympathizing with maya now. Also MJ's family all know what he has done and the way they talk about it seems if it was revealed to the public it will be a big scandal and will ruin their lives. They all are scared of it.
CV's should quickly start to focus on the backstory. Without it there is no basis for us to judge MJ's character and sympathise with maya

Well the problem is not bitch, it's just that one can do murder and not be completely one dimensional evil.
As for S1 Maya, she was mentally unstable, so she could throw Jhanvi from balcony one moment and the very next pretend to be completely normal. This Maya was visibly shaken and distraught.
Maya 1 would openly say I murdered, so what had no other option. Maya 2 is trying to convince herself she is not the murderer. It's as if telling her conscience to shut up, shut up and don't remind me what I have done. Maya 1 had already lost conscience to her childhood, this one has a problem a dilemma - she wants to take her cold blooded revenge but there exists a conscience. So she is trying to convince herself. Maya 1 plainly outright accepted herself and only lied to others.
Even the way Maya 1 and Maya 2 cried were different after the crime (kudos to Jenny). One showed the amount pain she felt thinking no one understands me and the other crying showed what have I done ( the moment Jenny kind of bangs her hand on her head thinking about Rishi)
Maya 1 was cold blooded while Maya 2 is trying the method of denial and simply hoping she can become cold blooded, and yet unable to stop thinking about it.
So yeah, I can keep writing just around just Rishi death scenes - the difference is both subtle and stark at places.
Just because they are showing 2 murderers does not mean they are showing same person. It's just that we have continuosly seen same kind of female leads in itv therefore unable to digest variation, which is fine. But then if you continue watching beyhadh, it might get you frustrated to see Maya pull all new plans like these.
As for character arc, I personally feel i don't see any discontinuity yet. Not even Ananya. As for Maya, CVS kept on giving us hints that Rishi will be killed by Maya - it was not even subtle. Plus Maya has been time and again told herself what is going to happen. I don't see how this doesn't fit her character. If she is nice to those who are mistreated or excluded from society it is because of her own ostracisation. If she wants to take revenge on MJ and the very first day she brought Rishi so close to death (even when Rajiv said ladka mar Gaya toh) shows that she isn't worried if Roy's survive this shit. She wants revenge and anyone can come in between the crossfires - she will shoot, even if it makes her sad she will shoot.
However in such scenarios she can't help but feel all the darkness around her. She has a major reason for revenge - a child taken away from mother, a brother taken away from sister, a father taken away from daughter, and also an existence a smile an identity taken away from a human. If all this doesn't lead you to the path of darkness then what will? And to do that she chose a plan - one that most of you abhor, the one where she won't even spare the innocent. The symbolism is similar to when Draupadi goes out in the forest with Krishna, takes the form of Kali and tells that every single person except for Pandavas will die in the battle of Kurukshetra. (No I don't mean god is telling her to do bad things I am just drawing symbolism). It is a battle - and one which will have very limited survivors. This does not mean that Maya has lost her essence, this is Maya's essence - beyhadh nafrat.
Think about it - title beyhadh why do you think it is beyhadh if she has rules knitted around her, and for what? Will she be able to fulfill her revenge without going beyhadh.
I know most of you have been making love story line in the forum, and that is why I stopped writing. I don't want beyhadh as MayRa reunion with happy ending. I want beyhadh nafrat as promised to me , and it is darker as promised. CVS were blatantly open before the show during the show and even now. Then why think that there is no character arc? It is high time we accept not all characters will be Gopi bahus aur unrealistic Durga from EHT. Art is to explore, even if it has to explore dichotomy and pain of a murderer, even if it explores utter darkness. And when characters like Maya come they show path for better shows. Better ideas , more creativity, less restrictions. So let's not restrict it to what most people wanted - MayRa. It is not good.
It will be best if we realize characters have layers - no one is one dimensional, so a character should not be thought to be discontinuous just because she has different emotions for different people - she is nice for those whom she feels a connection with and hates those who wronged her and even their family. It is what it is, and this has been shown from day 1.

Price of loving a married man.@libran execution has problem I agree @vatika that's what I said more clarity @manya reason for revenge is fine but is it enough reason to bump of rishi like that who had nothin to do with the past. He is not even aware what happened. It's not abt right or wrong it's abt character emotions. I could connect to emotion of Maya in s1 but to connect with Maya of s2 her need to bump of rishi the way she did i need more clarity. It's not abt right or wrong it's abt connect. I am someone who enjoys such plots but plz make execution more cleaner
Yeah this connecting problem was told by some other people also in this forum.
I think what happened was that Maya 1 was very cold and bold and no hypocrisy was there.
This one is a hypocrite to great extent, the way she killed rishi and is simply distraught. She didn't think it through. She can plan a murder , execute it also but living with the guilt of murder is something she was shown unable to stomach. She doesn't have the metabolism to bear the consequences of it, something Maya 1 bravely did.
Maya 1 on the other hand murdered because she simply couldn't control what she did not had in her control (quite an irony she wanted to control everyone but not herself, possibly because she knew she can't control her internal mind she attempted to control the external stimulus). And the fact that others were blaming her for all of that just made people connect with her
Mine is just opposite, I like the fact that Maya 2 has a past and no hope for future thus she decides (notice the word decide, not forced, she made a decision) to go down with flaming fire and along with all her nemesis. I like that she has varied emotions. Because she has tougher decisions - she has to decide whether to murder or not whether to take revenge or not. And if she goes forward it is all on her - she will have to bare the consequences.
On the other hand Maya 1 was so not in control of her actions because of her traumatic childhood and demented parents. I didn't like the fact that she was shown to do all those things but she had nothing to choose, because truly all she did was follow her id. A person that mentally disabalanced has no freedom of choice.
So yeah... Personally I like S2 it is more blunt and clearly darker.
Can we move away from mayra? I don't care whether they happen or not. As if viewers are too stupid to want Disney love story or they don't understand anything. No one is talking about Mayra anymore after this and that not where the discontent lies. As Shruthi said, it is about a connection and conviction. No one here is buying what cv's are selling because it was presented horribly. The problem is writers made Maya empathetic at first but not convincing, writers did not develop the story properly before throwing in a drastic twist. Additionally they show endless romance and kangan says beyhadh is a romantic thriller so hence this misunderstanding. It is okay to disagree or have healthy debates, but no one here is a fool or a silly fan girl. It is okay to have different opinions but enough with the "you simply don't understand" tone. The members here are too good for that

Very well put Manya👏. Honestly, my fault was in expecting things that aren't possible in shows like these. So I agree with mostly all points. But cannot help feeling sad for the boy. Anyway, I have now shut myself to any happy endings or romantic unions. I am like peace out with those thoughts and bring on some murder and mayhem. Let us see what they want to show us - objectively! I never really associated any morality or idealistic thoughts here, because in Maya's case, it does not apply. But will keep my emotions at bay, when I try to grasp Maya's POV as it is about her psyche and mental state, which normally isn't possible for all to accept or understand.

I am sorry if I came across like that. I don't mean to say that people don't understand, all I am saying is that most people's taste over here is not suitable for the dark revenge saga that will be shown from now onwards. The show was never promoted as a love story, the trailers clearly said hate beyhadh nafrat and what not. Even in interview Jenny openly said this season will be much darker than the earlier season.
The show had declared it's more darker attitude way before the start. And it will get even worse from here, Maya will move further into darkness, and MJ will also pull nasty moves, which will be difficult to watch.
So all I wanted to say was that this is what the show is about from ep 1 and you cannot help it or change the basis of the show. Then why get frustrated? If you like seeing dark thriller then watch and enjoy but if you don't then it will only lead to frustration. Hence it is better to be prepared for it, and if you don't want to see pitch dark thriller then maybe find something according to your taste, something you would like to invest your time and emotions into.
