Only you could come up with such analysis girl.👏

Often crying your eyeballs out gives you a sense of liberation and devouring chocolates soon after crying gives you an instant salvation.😆

Chocolates, scent of fresh flowers, warmth from a hug ( or just bathwater 😊), sound of rain......or a baby's laughter, a loving lick from a puppy -------- heaven is in this very earth. But so is hell. The trick is not to lose the heavenly touch while going through the later.

And at that time a person wants to stop falling. S/he wants to sleep without having nightmares. She wants that pain to stop even if for a moment. And if the only way out is to stop breathing, then so be it.

And the person arrives at that point where no other way can be seen because other people told her to be positive when she was screaming with agony. Because her wounds couldn't be seen. So her pain seemed non existent. So she stops screaming. She stops even uttering a word. And then she writes the final good bye.

Like in Titanic, rose said----- it's like i am screaming inside a sound proof glass room in a crowded field. I can see everyone but no one can hear me.

I think if people stop trivialising depression and mental health and start treating it like normal diseases like malaria or typhoid, many suicides can be stopped. Mental issues are neuro problems right ? Which is physical as well as mental ? No one tells a feverish person----'just get colder and everything will be ok'. No. That person gets treated with humane behaviour and meds. Then why is an anxious person asked just to be calm and everything will be alright ?

Most people just want to be seen and heard. That's the ultimate desire. And when they can't even find that, they stop. Just stop.

We always put this particular issue into a fancy garment and make it untouchable. It's an elite disease and takes the top position in the hierarchy of diseases. The suit it up and boot it up trend needs to drop if we want people to be happy, genuinely happy and not just for the sake of maintaining propriety. This one damn disorder is the most liberal. It had never done any discrimination and never will. It can attack you,me,the richest of the rich and the poorest of the poor. Modern problem needs modern solution we say but this phenomenon isn't modern. It has its roots spreaded deep into the pages of history. Just because we are now opening up doesn't make it a fairly new one. This needs a rather traditional solution. A Solution that starts with the traditional method of upbringing a child. More solutions need to be spread throughout the many social sectors be it educational, institutional, judicial, health etc etc. Access to its solution also comes at a hefty price. We live in a world where we take treatments and talk and confide in people we don't have any idea of but can't disclose the matter to someone we dearly know. This labyrinthine probelm has no straight forward solution. It's trickier than its symptoms. Education in its truest form is what we need. Comprehending the difference between fat and thin, black and white, pretty and ugly just isn't enough. We need to touch the iceberg beneath the tip. Until and unless we raise children with a natural and humane viewpoint of life and its aspects, this distress just won't stop.

I loved every word you said. Only if everyone could think like this.

The green part is the ultimate truth. This is like the issue of rape. I have heard many people saying that lately rape has increased rapidly. It didn't happen so much in their times. From there comes the victim blaming and even blaming the Hollywood movies and Netflix and what not ! But the upbringing of children, objectification in bollywood songs-----these are never blamed. But who would tell them that rape hasn't increased recently ? That it was always here ? Just before women were afraid of speaking up. Even if they wanted, their families would have stopped them. And even if the families wouldn't, the police definitely would. It still happens, but thanks to the digital world and increased feminist consciousness, more and more women are raising their voice.

Same with depression. It's not some modern fantasy of entitled brats as per boomer terms. It is one of the major killers in today's world and its best medicine is love. Too bad it's the rarest medicine in this godforsaken world !

The worst part is, it neither can be measured with a thermometer nor does it come with an instruction.

So even if a non-depressed person wants to be sensitive and helpful, it's extremely hard. S/he ends up patting the patient's back saying everything is gonna be ok and the patient closes up thinking that his feelings doesn't matter to the helper.

Good therapists can help. But it's like a lottery to find a good one. And even if it's found, therapy needs several sittings and is uber expensive.

So most of the time it's a lose-lose situation from all angles. Only mass consciousness and government's investment in mental health care can work. But this is a faraway fantasy standing in current India.

By the legendary Satyajit Roy. It's the last movie of the pather Panchali trilogy and is an absolute masterpiece. This film is named 'Apur Sangsar'. The first movie Pather Panchali is about a boy Apu's toddler days. Second one, Aporajito ( the undefeated ) is about Apu's adolescence. And this one is on Apu's youth. One of the best trilogies in the entire world if not the absolute best.

If you ever feel down, Do watch this movie !!!! It's sad at times but we need emotional masturbation right ?

It's filled with golden moments like that clip.

I have been often called robotic and emotionless by several people. May be because my thought process is quite different from them. But your words diluted all of those. This is the power of kind words.🤗

👏👏👏

When the developed countries with much lesser populations are struggling with this problem then it's better not to imagine where a country like ours stand. The three members of Britain's royal family later four started this new trend to destigmatize depression. When prince Harry and William spoke about their personal struggles post the Diana-Charles controversy and later her untimely departure, UK felt a strong wave of mental resurrection. They are working really hard in this area and they are starting it at grassroot levels(pregnancy,post-natal,neo-natal,Schools) One can surely hope their rate of success to grow with each passing year.

Now imagine INDIA ! We can't right ! Just the imagination is so messed up that it automatically turns us hopeless for its future. Suicidal people are often the victims of bad parenting, pathetic education system and unethical working environments. But we put all the blame on nonsensical stuffs. Imagine a mother of two boys with down syndrome committing suicide and people saying oh what a witch of a woman to die leaving her unhealthy children behind !!! Not even an ounce of sympathy for that woman cuz she was a mother and mothers are bound to tolerate every Goddamn thing. A woman in our society can't even take her life not because she shouldn't but because who will take care of her sons after her ? This is just a molecule sized example of our selective sympathy, hypocritical judgement and ironical rhetoration the bigger picture is worst.

In a multilayered society like ours, achieving zero suicide goal is next to impossible. A poor person suffering from depression can't even speak the language of the posh psychiatrist let alone have a discussion and of course listening to someone should only be done only if that person is paying you if not, he can go to hell for you don't care. Teachers can expect respect equal to that of Brahma's or Vishnu's but can't even qualify a normal efficiency test. Parents can expect their children to be like Raam and Savitri but can't provide them necessary fundamental values other than study hard, earn good, have children monotony. Govt officials think they are entitled to possess an air of nonchalance and negligence but the moment something disastrous happens, it's all the fault of public. We live in a country where a victim is condemned and a criminal is celebrated. We live in a country where a little girl is advised to idolize Sita and Savitri out of all legendary women. We live in a country where saying derogatory curse words is the quotient of coolness and harassing a woman define your masculinity. We live in a country where we must wear patriotism on our sleeves and chant hail motherland all the time but as a woman I'm yet to find 10 practical reasons to feel proud to be born in this country as a woman.
