Rudra is in his 30's(episode 3, Divya's statement - 30 Saal k bacche, bacche nai hote, baccho k baap ho jaate hai).That means either he is of age 30 or more than that. 12 years ago he was 18 years old(almost the age of what Rishi is of now. This is the reason he warned Rishi that the girl will destroy you). Looking at how righteous Rudra is, it does not seem that he would have ever taken any relationship lightly or for granted. He respects relationships and relations. Even though he might not have been in a serious relationship with the girl but still he would have valued whatever relationship dynamics he might have shared with her. He is a kind of guy who once holds a hand, won't leave it ever(as stated by Maya). Even if the connection wouldn't have been mature and deep with the girl but still he was definitely connected deeply with his dad. If his father was the one who tried to forge his relationship, then it might have shaken him to the core. The person whom he idealised, the person whom he loved and cared and most importantly the one who he had blind faith on was the one who backstabbed him. His whole world might have collapsed(jab paraye dhokha dete hai to dard hota hai lekin jab apne dhokha dete hai to insaan toot jaata hai). He would have started to question every relation and every truth he had ever come across . Rudra is a kind of a person who tries to find out everything if he starts doubting (even though Maya warned him to stay out of her life, still he did not listen and tried to dig deeper). This might have resulted in Rudra reevaluating every thing his father had done and hence he found out the real face of his father (he thinks his father is a scum, with no moral, but he doesn't know that he is a murderer too). So yes, 10 years ago his father snatched everything from him - his faith on love, his faith on Father - son relationship, his faith on MJ ROY.

If you notice, they showed that Rajiv had entered the house in the first episode and recorded everything despite him being known by MJ and his clan.
