Oh my. I wish there was a secret. I don't know - I guess I just look for the deeper meaning in everything and that's why such shows appeal to me. I also love stories and reading and writing them so maybe that adds to it.

Maya asking forgiveness was cute & symbolic too.

What if Diya made Antara addicted?

Diya is definitely involved in more than just being a friend so it is quite possible that she made Antara addicted. She is a doctor and would know the basics of any medication even if it isn't her field of specialty. I can say that because my masi is a doctor (a gynecologist) and she knows the basics of most medications as well.

Dec 23rd - Maya's First Win Begins

Maya and MJ - While Maya is ready to bring the fight to MJ's doorstep she is still not ready to face him. And Maya is going to have to be careful around him and get over this fear because MJ is smart. He caught on right away that there is something going on here and even though Aamir pulled him away, he was obviously intrigued by her and wants to find out more already.

Maya is still scared of MJ.. he has done something so terrible for her to reach that level of tension.. she will remain masked for MJ till she finds her way to fight him..

Rishi, Rudra, and Ananya - Lol at Rudra's reaction. 😆 He doesn't even blink when the two go boo, but pretends to get scared when Ananya takes off her mask. And while Rudra very easily kept Maya's identity hidden, in the process, he also set up what the game will be going forward. Tujhe pehle mil gayi toh teri mujhe pehle mil gayi toh meri. The two brothers could potentially fight for Maya and the first person to get to her will get her. But while Rudra took that very casually, Rishi took that as another challenge and another call to his ego. He immediately became competitive about it and ran off to find her.

This was like a scene that was symbolic of one of them actually getting her.. the truth is that Rishi has to search her and even find out who she is.. but for Rudra he knows who is behind the mask..rather the real mask that maya is wearing for them.. Rudra will unmask her for sure someday.. unmasking maya will really hurt Rudra that's for sure..

MJ and Antara - This relationship is so interesting and yet so cliched. Antara is the trophy wife. She is only supposed to make MJ look good in society. Otherwise he cares nothing about her. And this has affected Antara deeply because to date she thought that she was important for MJ, which makes me wonder: what type of man is MJ? How did he keep Antara in the dark for so many years and why reveal the truth to her now? Nonetheless, the truth has shaken her to the core and in the process she is reaching out, looking for meaning in life. Antara is both MJ's weak link and strong link. Whatever happened with Maya, Antara has some inkling of it. This makes her both MJ's weakest and strongest link. If she dies, then the secret dies with her. But if she is scared to the point where she even fears MJ, then she can blurt everything out and cause MJ's downfall. She truly is water. Essential, but, in MJ's view, unimportant. I don't think Maya is going to kill Antara. She will just take Antara to the brink of death again and again until either Antara goes mad and kills herself or MJ kills Antara. Aaj koi aisi harqat maat karna jiski wajah se kisi aur ko tumhari jagah lene ko mile. MJ's words make me believe that when Antara dies, Diya will take her place because right after saying these words, he motions to Diya to go to Antara and she immediately does.

Antara and water is something that has even going around since sometime.. Mj said antara is water..also we have a flashback where maya was put into water.. water Dubane ke liye hota hai.. today that same water I mean antara dubaoed MJ respect in public...

Antara takes some kind of anti depression pills which she can sleep on all her tensions.. Antara is a gandhari for me if the show is mahabharat.. she remained forcefully blinded to everything.. even when draupadi was treated badly, she did not say anything in fear of reaction against duryodhan..the same is the problem with Antara..

Maya's small ask for forgiveness - It was only a few seconds, but important to building Maya's character. She is on a path of revenge and, in the process, people will get hurt. She realizes that and doesn't want to hurt those who are already hurting or may be innocent in everything, but it is necessary to her plan. Her small ask for forgiveness is her way of saying "I know I'm wrong, but I hope you'll support me".

Maya wont kill anyone.. if she does the same what happened to her then there is no difference between her and MJ.. she will make MJ alone and weaponless and rip him off what became the reason behind him spoiling Mayas life..

Maya's first win begins - This is the end to today's episode and the beginning of tomorrow's episode. It ties in everything discussed above and will bring more tomorrow.. MJ introduces Rajiv to everyone in the party and the media as Ruan Publications' investor and his new business partner. That was his move to bring Rudra to his side, but before Rudra can react, Antara creates a scene and leaves MJ embarrassed. MJ does try to turn it in his direction, but this won't be enough. Because Maya's first win will be two-part. Hit MJ professionally and personally. Rajiv has been introduced as the investor - professional hit. Antara's attempted murder - personal hit. Let's see what happens tomorrow before I comment more on this.

Rudra Ananya dont know who this guy is and maya hasn't told them yet..so the whole antara scene just put a stop there and maya now has time to explain rudra about rajeev.. so rajeev is not diya son tipsy as per wiki..

Masks - I just want to make a side remark here on the masks. There is something interesting that happened with the masks. MJ never wore one. Symbolically he suggested that he is who he is and he has nothing to hide. See him for who he is. Rudra started off with a mask, but took it off after Maya came and has left it off since then. Symbolically he suggested that he has to keep his true self hidden in the Roy house, but with Maya by his side, he refuses to hide. He is who he is and accept him for it. Maya has a mask on, which adheres to her face and matches her dress perfectly. More likely than not, she brought it with her. Symbolically she suggests that I have to hide my true self when I'm in the Roy house, but even while hiding, see me for who I am. I am unique. I am myself. I will hide myself but also reveal myself at the same time. Rishi wore a mask that perfectly covers his face and only came off when it came time to find Maya. It goes to show that when matters concern Maya, Rishi's true side comes out, otherwise it's hidden. And isn't that true? We only began to see Rishi's MJ side when Maya came into his life. Antara wore a mask that only covers her eyes but matches perfectly with her sari, symbolically suggesting that she turns a blind eye to stuff as long as it makes her look good. She deceived Maya possibly only because she thought it made her look good in front of MJ. Diya wore a mask that was in sharp contrast to her dress (a might brighter and louder pink than the dress). She seemed to be screaming "look at me, but don't see the real me". I wonder who she really is. Which friend just stays in a house for 10 years. Mrs. Roy doesn't wear a mask and again it's because she has nothing to hide. She is who she is. She may have secrets, but she doesn't want to give it away by wearing a mask and hiding her true identity. And finally Ananya. Ananya wore a mask, but, in her case, it was more in the spirit of the party than anything. She immediately got onboard with the idea and went straight for a mask. And, despite her mask, she is easily recognizable.

Masks for me is that Rudra and MJ have no masks.. they will fight face to face.. Maya mask is for everyone actually but only Rudra will actually recognise her and safeguard her.. let's see if her mask goes off tomo to anyone..

So true. Rudra just throws a challenge at Rishi to find out the truth. Other than that he knows Maya. The other thing to note here is that he was looking for. So even though he knows what she looks like even when masked, she can remain hidden and he'll need to find her.

Maya's small ask for forgiveness - It was only a few seconds, but important to building Maya's character. She is on a path of revenge and, in the process, people will get hurt. Yes again. There will be deaths, but I don't think any will be at Maya's hand. At least not willingly. It isn't part of her plan. Her plan is to make MJ suffer. To make him alone and miserable. To take away everything that defines who MJ is. And death doesn't accomplish that.

Question is does Maya need to explain anything? She can just say MJ is mistaken and probably found the wrong company. Problem solved. Yes Rudra will be curious, but he won't look into it further because he would see it as a win if MJ keeps dealing with the wrong investor. Or she could say that Rajiv is her proxy (an actor she hired) because she knew that she couldn't stay hidden.

I'll share what I felt about Antara's outburst in context of Maya. I remembered a Dostoyevsky quote today: One man doesn't believe in god at all, while the other believes in him so thoroughly that he prays as he murders men. smiley36 This is Maya when one looks at her from the surface. But on digging deeper, she looks more like a black angel. She only changed the color of her robe, but she is still an angel. Why do I feel so? When she says about bali, she cuts her own wrist. This time, she had put black soot of the auspicious lamp on her tongue, something to account for her 'kaali zaban' (what is says or wishes comes true). She put Antara's medicine in her mouth and spit it out, like the medicine connected both their tongue or words. After that whatever Antara spoke at the party, her pain as a woman, looked like Maya's pain as well that she couldn't vocalize. Maya's pain may vary a bit factually, but one can assume for now, something like her womanly self-respect was broken by MJ. When Maya drowns Antara into the water, a new Antara would be born, like you had discussed earlier about Maya's rebirth from water in your thread.

@ Bold: Wow that's a good point. She isn't a devil. Despite wearing the black and the so-called rebirth, she's still an angel. Like a lot of people have said before, Maya is Durga and this new roop of hers is Kali. But Kali never did wrong and neither will Maya.

Well yesterdays episode was everything and some more. I loved reading your analysis especially about the symbolism of the Masks.

Everyone has echoed my thoughts so I won't take much time or space. I am listing some things that stood out

- The angel/devil speak: The way Maya was filmed whispering things in Antaras ears was a classic throwback to the angel/devil speak into the ears of a person. On the angel side she said, you are an example and on the devil side she went on to reiterate MJs harsh words to her, your a responsibility/a blot. The way they directed that scene was classic.

-Maya touching the center of Antaras head: In scriptures women are shown wearing bindi at Center of their head while men too put tilak at center of their forehead. That symbolises "beginning". It could be the literal beginning of Mayas revenge game or incidental outcome of it I. E. beginning of Antaras journey to redemption. We shall see.

- Maya pulling her ear before Goddess Amba idol: This was so significantly symbolic. Goddess Amba has many forms as is celebrated during Navratri- a saint, a Punisher, a mother, a lover, a daughter, and the supreme power. It's nice to see Maya seek forgiveness for her action in advance. When Godess Kali was lost in her rage, she was about to destroy the world but God Shiva stopped her. It keeps reiterating the fact that there is still kindness left in Maya. Rudra just has to appeal to it.

On the bonus, we saw Rudras first glimpse of genuine desire for Maya. I think yesterday for the first time Rudra smiled bashfully thinking of the intimate buttoning up moment with Maya. His attraction to her was very evident.

Melanie - Ashish - Jen owned the episode. I am glad that this week has begun with more focus on supporting characters. It increases the vibrancy of the show.

Dec 24th - A Few Quick Comments

Sorry guys don't have time to do a long analysis today, just want to make a few small comments.

Maya's First Win - I say Maya has achieved her first win. She destroyed MJ's party and his gloating moment. First with Antara's outburst, then with Rudra's outburst, and then with Antara's almost death. In all this, Rajiv was forgotten. It was forgotten that he was introduced as Rudra's investor.

Sultan - Dogs are said to be great judges of characters. The fact that Sultan still recognized and hugged Maya goes to show that despite her whole revenge avatar, she still has good in her. And her genuine happiness on seeing Sultan was the first time you saw her truly happy. Given that both Rudra and Maya love Sultan so much, will he be the reason for bringing these two together in real?

Rajiv Chandra - He's with Maya both for business purposes, but I also feel because he genuinely likes her. He saw her crying and he immediately put on a clown act of how scared he was when MJ was hanging him by the balcony. Earlier he saw Maya leaving the party and even though he knew she wouldn't shake hands with him, he still put on a pleasant and funny act. But business reasons might take a forefront for him because at the end of the day he's not fully Maya's partner and for how long will he allow Maya to take the foreground? Even he said it, I'm with you for my own benefit.

Merry Christmas Shreya🤗

Happy Holidays❤️

Lovely analysis. Thank you for capturing the key points of the episode. For me the episode was fillerish but it gave some interesting peak into Maya, Rudra, Diya, and Rajeev.

I loved how Rajeev tried to divert her with the clownery when he saw her in tears. The guy must have seen her good/bad moments over past 8 years and genuinely seems to be interested in helping her both for business and personal reasons. It will be interesting to see them take on RuAn in their quest to destroy MJ. Diya is so shady omg. She really is after the Mrs. Roy title. Aise dost ho to dushmano ki kya zaroorat.

Rudra won my heart yesterday. The way he erupted on MJ and yet maintained a dignity in talking to him showed how much self control he has. His acknowledging Maya for her help amidst all the mess shows how caring he is. And then the way he confronted MJ and comforted Antara. Loved it. His words are resounding- aap ek baar keh ke to dekhiye, MJ ka sach sabke samne le aunga. He knows so much and that makes him Maya's key weapon in this game. His thoughts on independent women make me smile coz those are the things that he will adore in Maya.

The sultan-maya scenes made me gush so much. He seemed to be a gift to Maya. I am looking forward for more scenes.

One last mention to the masquerade. Interesting that Maya began it and by the end of it she was the only one wearing it... And left the party unsuspected. First major victory for Maya.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays! 🤗

@ Bold: Yes. They are both so alike and yet so different at the same time. Maya would never do something like that to help someone smile. Her style would be like what she did in the lift with Rudra. Yet they are also alike in their pains and sufferings and their need to destroy that person who destroyed them. Rajiv was sweet in his clownery act. I wish I had a friend like that. It'll be even more interesting if Rajiv ever deceives Maya to fulfill his needs and/or to benefit himself. I wonder what Maya would do then.

@ Red: My only problem here is that why did Diya wait so long? She obviously has been around for a while and she could have gotten the title earlier. Plus, it doesn't seem that MJ cares much for Antara and even if they never divorced, he could have given that place to Diya long back. Why keep on the facade of loving Antara till recently?

@ Green: I didn't have time to comment on this dialogue earlier, but it's so key. Rudra won't do that for just anyone. It was only for Antara. That makes Antara key to Maya's game as well. Because until Antara has that place in Rudra's life, he won't just do stuff for Maya without thinking about it. That also proves that this was Maya's first win. She took Antara to brink of death to make Rudra wreck havoc in MJ's life. She used Antara to anger Rudra to the point that he was willing to speak about the past and attack MJ over it. Antara is important to Rudra. So important that he will willingly do anything for her.
