Once he was convinced that Tiger’s action moves will sell the movie for him the two female characters became easily expendable. It was basically a matter of who was more expendable, Tara or Ananya?

Do you mean that there's some sort of 'underground' fanbase that she could build .. people that would go see her movies because they find her sexy? And that she can get BO success from that and then get better roles because she has Bo success?

Erm that's your opinion dude. It doesn't mean she was truly bad. I thought she was very convincing. And You're comparing her half baked role to actors who all did lead roles. Her role wasnt even a lead. Even sana had bette role than tara in soty one.

Btw I've seen her acting since Disney days, so I know she can very well act.

@bold. This! It was so obvious that SOTY 2 just had a non star kid to show Dharma Productions supports talent and not nepotism!

The example of the actors shining in their roles in the previous post can't even be compared to Tara who is a 2 film old actress. Aamir in his first two films- QSQT (and I love this movie btw) and Tum Mere Ho was an amateur. Not even that great in Dil where Madhuri stole the show. After 30+ years of course he is one of the best actors we have. They've all improved immensely over a period of time.

Tara was pretty convincing in Marjaavaan. Esp the scenes just before Zoya dies.

BTW I was searching these old music videos Disney India did to promote the Hindi versions of HSM songs and was surprised to see Tara (who was a Disney VJ back then) in one of them!

She's got a blink-and-miss appearance. The other Disney show cast (Ishaan, Kya Mast Hai Life etc) got more screen time. Shweta Tripathi is in it too! This is what I love the most. From hardly being there in music videos, to getting her own Disney shows and now getting into Bollywood as a mainstream actress, Tara's come so far. She is the only Disney talent who successfully managed to achieve this.

I know. He is one of the very few deserving star kids and I love his work. But look at his filmography. After Raakh, he had Dil, Deewana Mujhsa Nahi, Jawaani Zindabaad to name a few in which he was okayish. He had 7 films before Dil Hai Ki Maanta Nahi, in which he was really good. Then there was Jo Jeeta, Andaaz Apna Apna, Rangeela where he performed very well. His major hit was Raja Hindustani, which was in 1996. His time truly started in the 2000s where he understood his strengths.

Its not about comparison. It about the number of chances one gets. Most of the films are taken up by the Dharma clan...in the order of Alia, Janhvi, Kiara/Sara, Ananya. Janhvi has 5 films lined up already after a terrible performance in Dhadak. Where are the films for the outsiders? Is that fair?

I found Saher Bambaa gorgeous too. The one in Karan Deol's debut film. And she wasn't half a bad actor. But she won't get the limelight or the media coverage, a Shanaya Kapoor or Khushi Kapoor will. Girls who are getting the best of best before debuting. Their debuts and follow up films must've already been planned so that they are launched and sustained for the first five years of their career.

Gone are the days when outsiders like Priyanka, Deepika, Katrina, Anushka, Aishwarya were given fair chances in films. There was a healthy balance between star kids like Kareena, Sonakshi and Sonam and the outsiders named above. The ratio was balanced.

Thats the main reason why I root for the outsiders. Ofc Tara comes from a westernised performing background and Disney which is different from Bollywood. But atleast actors like her should get a fair number of movies to prove themselves. Its very difficult to perform well in badly written movies or if the characters are half-baked and are styled badly. I am very unbiased when it comes to Bollywood but when I saw Tara's styling in SOTY2 vs Marjaavaan I couldn't believe it was the same person.
