Star Rankings Dec 2019 - Salman Khan Still Tops

Salman Khan continues to be the top star by a margin and this is before the release of Dabangg 3 which should increase the lead. Ranbir Kapoor is in second places as basically on Sanju is the only release in the last two years and that was huge non holiday opener. Akshay Kumar is in third place but could have been higher but Housefull 4 which had potential of a big weekend (especially going the huge numbers post Diwali) opened pre Diwali which meant less weekend numbers which form the rankings.

There were huge gains made by Hrithik Roshan with War as his points were negative six months back. Tiger Shroff also made gains with War but it was a two hero film where a huge opening can always come. There other releases Super 30 and Student Of The Year 2 hardly helped in terms of stardom. Super 30 eventually did well but hardly opened.

The downward trend is for Aamir Khan and Shahrukh Khan as the latter has films that have not opened well recently and there have been no films for a year and Aamir Khan only has one release (Thugs Of Hindostan) in the last three years and although that film crashed it had an initial to get some to keep him in the top five.

There will be a few big films from Akshay Kumar and Ranbir Kapoor next year and they could challenge Salman Khan for supremacy but as far as this decade goes (2010-2019) it has been totally dominated by Salman Khan. The December rankings below are for India (April 2019 points in brackets) and completely based on opening box office numbers with holiday factors taken out and films which are technically guest roles or small releases left out. The criteria for the rankings below is here.

1. Salman Khan: 1630 points (1842)

2. Ranbir Kapoor: 930 points (871)

3. Akshay Kumar: 685 points (658)

4. Aamir Khan: 600 points (1005)

5. Tiger Shroff: 586 points (239)

6. Ranveer Singh: 567 points (680)

7. Hrithik Roshan: 522 points (-105)

8. Ajay Devgn: 325 points (553)

9. Shahrukh Khan: 155 points (337)

10. Varun Dhawan: 45 points (156)

The above is purely on box office numbers and if we bring the other factors into play the rankings will be slightly different from our prospective as genres and the audience likeabily of a film are there and today the audience likeabily is reflected in the first three days. A rejection of a film does not actually mean rejection of the star but it is reflected in numbers.

There is demand for a similar rankings for actresses but it is pretty pointless as a lot depends on which male actor that actress is working with. The bigger the male star then bigger the numbers.A top ten will be done from our prospective taking everything into account.

Amitabh's peak was from 1975 until the mid-1980s. And during the 80s, there was Jackie, Mithun, Sanjay, and Sunny too.

Late 60s/early 70s was all about Rajesh Khanna. And 70s, Dharmendra was equally as big as Amitabh and Rajesh Khanna.

No doubt Salman ruled entire decade but he's on his down side atm. With all masala films lined up there is no way up.

Not just this decade, but Salman was a RAGE in his initial years as well delivering 6 consecutive back to back successes from his debut in 1989 till1991.

He also gave India's BIGGEST HIT TILL DATE hahk in 1994.

Was extremely consistent throughout 90s as well with huge blockbusters & superhits like mpk, baaghi, sanam bewafa, saajan, jeet, karan Arjun, judwaan, pktdk, jpkshh, hum saath saath hain etc etc... (Even his so-called bad phase of 2000 decade had a solid hit almost each year, very unlike srk, who is giving embarrassing lifetime grossers since long from 2009 till today).

Bollywood's biggest Hit till date is Sholay not HAHK, but some people love spreading lies.😆

And Salman had total 6 hits in 2000s in which there are only two solo hero films, rest were all multi-starrers and cameos.😆

SRK too had 6 hits this decade much bigger Hits. So SRK in this decade has clearly done better than Salman in last decade.😆
