Toh u mean that if our child or parent or a sibling are suffering from something bad...we should stop loving them?? Nahi na...doctor ko dikhaoge....we will try to get them better....toh desh ka bhi wahi hai....agar beemar hai toh theek karo....pyaar karna kyon band karna hai? Being a half indian and half pakistani😆, i can say this with 100% conviction that patriotism is shit. In disguise of passion and pride, it only brings out aggression and supremacy. People turn blind eye to high level politics with 'MY COUNTRY' slogans and lose every sense of tenderness and tolerance. I have started to feel the same way about religion as well.

Sorry but you are mixing two very different things. India the nation isn't the reason why women are suffering, even when there was no India the nation, women were suffering, even when there will be no India the nation, women will be suffering. Patriotism means loving your country. And I dont need to love it for it to exist. So naah, without patriotism India can exist as well.

Some people have all the priviledge of separating whatever heck their idea of some utopian India is and what India actually is in their head. I dont. India is not some idea its a nation and nation is its people! When people of India dont give a rat's ass about their women, then India the nation is responsible. What kinda bs statement is ' India the nation is not the reason women are suffering'? Indian women are suffering because of India the nation. Our culture,religion,age old beliefs are literally responsible for half the shit that happens to women.

The question is : Why should we have patriotism? and you made it about unity. What is this unity? Where are we united? What does this unity do for the greater good? Is anyone staying in India happy right now? Is any woman truly happy in India? This unity is just the inability to escape from here. Indian patriotism today has nothing to do with unity. People are here because they have no other choice. Its everything to do with our war mongering and jingoistic tendencies. It has everything to do with the paranoia created around someone taking our identity and our majority numbers dwindling. Actual patriotism is the love for the country and there has to a reason for that. What reason do we have? Communal bias, dead economy, women safety a joke,unemployment all time high, marital rape legal, trans bill against trans people. If anyone actually feels love for their country after this whole week,then they must have really low standards.

Its time people merge whatever utopian idea of India the nation is with the actual sickening nation we have become. We have failed as a nation. This 'without patriotism India cannot exist' is complete bs. Right now India is existing on mere propaganda.

I honestly don't like the Idea of patriotism anymore. In childhood I felt something when I watched movies like bhagat Singh but now it is meaningless to me.

Thats the thing. People are still stuck in that era and they are so blind to what India has become today. Bhagat Singh would feel sick himself seeing this nation today. He did not fight for this India. This India is not the one who gave his life for. I hate the idea of being patriotic about this country. My existence and free will is constantly under threat and this country does not care. Why the hell would anyone feel remotely patriotic about this hellhole. Nothing will ever change in my lifetime and that too is one dreadful thought.

Having patriotic feelings is meaningless if you don’t care for the people in their entirety along with their strengths as well as weaknesses...Country is nothing but its people....Love the people, strive their for betterment if nothing don’t wish bad things for them- then we are talking patriotism! Otherwise its just another useless, meaningless emotion which keeps coming and going depending on which movie you are watching or what game the politicians are playing!

In the new age, patriotism is equal to bashing other countries. That is very egoistic IMO. Why do you need to put down other countries in order to show your country as better one?
