We don't share same language or religion or ethnicity or even culture. It is just that one word India, which is keeping us all together, otherwise, India can today easily divided into hundreds of countries.

Daily we have people having differences, fights, disgust and so on, but at the end of the day when a problem arises to the whole of the subcontinent, the only word which unites us is India.

The day everyone stops caring about this word, either we have reached the Utopia with no borders or we are being slaves if someone else.

When will people stop caring about the word 'India' and start caring about the people? Especially women? When do we get feel like we belong to this country and its safe for us? If India gets divided at the cost of less communal and religious fights, actual safety for women and children, treating women as first class citizens, actual good governance anyone with a brain should take it. We are stuck with the word 'India' and not what it means to be a good nation which respects its women.

question was "why should we even have patriotism", my answer is in accordance to that, that patriotism is important for the reason that it is the only thing which binds this whole nation.

Your reply is kinda misplaced, as if I said, be proud of India, no matter how many rapes or ill treatment of women happen.

Yes we need to change the structure of this whole country in particular and whole world in general, to give women equal standing in this world of men, and turn it into the world of men and women together(order is just alphabetical, not saying men first).

Also I get your emotions, but a divided Indian subcontinent will not ensure safety of women or less communal violence, as unity of India isn't the reason why India is fcuked up.

My reply isnt misplaced at all. Am just very tired of excuses that perpetuate the feeling of unity of India as some sort of reason to be patriotic and proud of India when a whole gender's safety is not a priority and this unity does nothing for it. What kinda unity are we talking about here. When shit happens in this country to women, the unity of India is a smokeshow and nothing else. When tragedy strikes, people move on not because we are united but because we don't have a choice.

Unity for the sake for it is no reason to be patriotic when nothing comes out of it. India has become a hollow word for some time now.

It is not excuse, it is the reality, if there is no patriotism, there is no India. You simply didn't got my point, you mistook my post totally.

Sorry but you are mixing two very different things. India the nation isn't the reason why women are suffering, even when there was no India the nation, women were suffering, even when there will be no India the nation, women will be suffering. Because India the nation isn't responsible for the suffering of the women.

Your anger is totally just, your channeling is not.
