Why shouldn't I bring the gender here when you're giving male centric movie a huge leeway, DCH while bashing VDW, which showed same "negative actions" ... Badly done and marketing all seem excuses since previous movies had guys showcasing all negatives while latter women took the charge! It's one thing to not like a movie but equating VDW to KS ... I can't even!

Frankly your posts at times come off gender biased from what I seen so far (-that's my observation and may be you can introspect .... At the same time you don't have to agree with my observation at all since you know yourself the best)! 👍🏼

Aisa kya tha DCH me? There were no absurd profanities..the relation between Akshaye n Dimple's character was portrayed so sensitively..

Movie showed how boys fell in love n gained understanding n maturity. There was nothing crass.

One thing i liked about both VDW and DCH was that the parents of all protagonists were very understanding and supportive

I dont and I can't comment on how you perceive my posts. However, I can understand why you want to steer this discussion towards gender differences. My point was VDW and DCH can't be compared because how they handled the subject.

Please remove your gender cry glasses and look at how they have shown things. VDW was all about gloss- glamour-glorified profanities. Something that attracts the naive youth. While DCH had such a different approach to show relationships and friendship survives with time.

Compare yourself the takeaways n what part of memories you retained from both.

Could be a good debate topic take it to main forum. People who have seen both can compare better

I wasn't steering the discussion towards gender, instead continuted the tangent you had started!

I don't have any gender cry glasses (whatever those are) since for me both movies were about friendship - how their dynamics/graph evolved with time .... As for their approach, quite similar too .. both depicted casual sex, smoking, drinking and the usual youth based activities ... difference between two is the generation gap almost 2 decades ... Generation has evolved and so has the perimeters for girls, hence different outlook if both are to be compared!

Debate topic on main forum ... Nah, such discussions are too time consuming!

This is where I disagree. I really hope feminist gods don't include VDW in their definition of progressiveness. Tumhari Sullu and English Vinglish even Tanu Weds Many are good enough progressive movies without being obscene.

Why didn't the society get influenced and parents are still left at old age homes post Baghban?

Did society get influenced by that aspect of Humpty Sharma ki Dulhania where Varun realizes that Alia has an identity or his sister in law reses her job or His father doesnot differentiate between son and daughter? Or it was only the manhandling part that they got influenced by?

They do get influenced. That's why movies like queen are hailed. Many girls draw inspiration from them and want to do better and have dreams other than just getting married. Movies like kapoors and sons normalizes acceptance of gay people. While English vinglish/ baghban made people be more caring and mindful of their parents. Tzp bought the struggles of dyslexic kids to the fore. Chichore and 3I had important lessons. SMS, bala bought up discussion around relevant topics.

Recently a father of two inspired by hdds gave away his wife.

The march shown in rdb inspired candle march in capital.

Just like not all guys get inspired by KS, not all movies affect everyone. But if you are going through something similar, and a movie on the same subject comes along, the self acceptance/motivation to do better become stronger.

When I watched this movie, I got the message that you should surround yourself with friends, family and loved ones. And obviously, things don't always work out in a linear fashion, but you will get through the uncertainty.

You haven't watched this movie, why are you shtting on it? Did kareena snatched the role from pc?
