Well the whole point is why does the mother think that 28/29 is the right age for her daughter to get the talk (that too after the maid of all people reminds her) about 'what comes after marriage?'

I mean does she really think her daughter has reached almost 30 years of age without knowing about the birds and the bees? If she does think so, then that only reinforces the predominant thinking in our society that girls need to not only stay virgins till they get married, they also need to remain unaware about what happens in the act of sex. Above all girls must never have any sexual desires of their own because that makes them 'bad'. They just need to follow where the man leads.

So, let's assume Sona didn't get married till 35. Even at 35 her mom would have thought it appropriate to give her this talk? Please, that is just stretching it a bit too far...

Another thing I hate in all our serials is the woman always pushing the man away when he comes near saying 'chhodo na'. She has to coyly refuse the man's advances because that's the 'proper' thing to do. She can never just give into her desires can she?

But all I meant to say is physical relationship doesn't ONLY define a relationship .. I feel it should not be a measure to be in love or to be out of love.. I mean allowing your own body and soul to be touched by other better half is a very pious act and it is pure... It's should be only love when u get together in this act nd not just mere attraction or infactuation ... That love which you should not regret later.. A love which u can always cherish.. Don't make it look like vulgarity or something dirty because it isn't... Physical relationship isn't everything.. That's all I wanted to say

To be loved or to love is unconditional it shouldn't be bounded by worldly plesures..

Can't really say what the show wanted to potray.. All I saw was a positive step towards starting a conversation between a parent and child regarding a sensitive topic like sex...

Ps: I know I went little too extra with my previous post.. But with everyone these days defining relationship on the physical and sexual appeal just erks me out..

I mean if u think bw celebs r virgin n say the truth,I will be just🤣

just like theres nothing wrong with waiting if u want, theres nothing wrong with doing it if u want also. Its your judgemental tone about the latter thats concerning n so wrong.

theres a huge lack of sexual empowerment of women on tv. My words n concerns were valid bcz literelly every indian female lead is a so called whitewashed version that socuety forces women to be. The women who dont fit in or r acting on the natural sexual desires r shown as vamps. thats ridiculious.

the show did a very safe progressive thing n wants pat on back for it while conforming to a much more damaging n hypocritical stereotype . AS I said thats like disney making dumbo about animal cruelty in circus bcz veganism is accepted n easier to potray n trendy n marketable now while ignoring the huge backlash about the crows named after jim crow segregation laws making mockery of black people in the animated one bcz racism is much darker n they cant cash on it its not safe

Similarly indian tv shows will never show their woman leads non virgin,in a physical relationship with someone. But no problem in showing Male leads as bad boy casanovas,or having prior physical relstionship.

Completely agree with this. An almost 30 year old in this day and age who had a boyfriend that she almost married , has to be educated about suhaag raat? Because she has no idea of intimacy between a man and a woman because of course the boyfriend would never even have kissed her the entire time they were together, let along tried anything else. Realistic much??? I for one was cringing throughout that entire scene, first because it was so implausible, second because as you said they had to show the FL as untouched and virginal, and third, because the producer must have been congratulating himself for being so 'advanced' !! Good lord we are a country of close to 1.5 billion and still so much hypocrisy in our TV shows with regard to sex.

I don't watch this show, but caught this scene on Hotstar.

Omgg same thoughts. I didn't know Sona was 28. I can't believe they are showing her as a pious virginal woman who will end up loosing her virginity to her husband. Come onnn . She is in the entertainment industry, has had boyfriends, and has never had sex?? This is so unrealistic.

Sex education and all I understand. Its very important for parents to talk to their kids on sex education, but it shouldn't be when they are in their late 20s. Parents should be talking to their kids on sex education when they are teens so that they are aware of consequences, contraceptives, STDs etc. Such a stereotypical scene this was. I can't believe in 2019, they are hesitating to show a woman in her late 20s who's not a virgin. This is exactly whats wrong with Indian TV show... I mean how could a FL not be a virgin? So stereotypical 🤪

If I remember correctly no where in the scene did Sona confess to her mother that she had no physical relation with Karan or also if she did. Or did we have her mention that ever to Rohit or Rohit asking her. Come on why would he, there is a past and he too has one.

Her mother talking to her seemed okay to me, because may be moms do talk about that with daughters before marriage. I am yet to get married so no idea if my mom would do that.

Sona did hint that she is aware of what happens and sex. I do understand that the conversation could have been more open but I guess it’s one step at a time for ITV.

I don’t think the show is trying to show FL as virgin, I do understand that Karan mentioned of Sona being cranky and not letting him touch her. But I would not buy it until Sona says that she has never kissed him or anyone. I can understand she didn’t have sex with him but kiss toh kiya hoga. It’s like Rohit saying he never kissed Raima, who on earth would buy that. Impossible stuff

When I said at the right time , I meant at the right time , I didnt mean to say sona s mom was talking to her at the right time . They just went overboard and overdramatic, that's the itv standard but this was one step in positive direction. Nobody will delve deep into it thinking is sona a virgin or not or did she do it or not etc . They have some cliches when it comes to portrayal of Male and female leads..the content which you are asking for / appreciate is there in the web series.. 😆 That's more like the urban Indian society..not the ones shown in dramas like khkt..for prime time shows, this is a big step. Showing such scenes. N we have pari also who you know ,doesn't need any advises on sex lol

.

Why so judgemental about sex .how is it wrong if one is sexually active and even though they r virgins at that age is it wrong to pleasure themselves by masturbation ..

Doesnt gal know her pleasure points by 29 ..really she needs sex education .?? Lol .and she never pleasured herself by 29
