Sridevi never looked vulgar even her suggestive songs with Jeetendra. She already had critical acclaim and multiple best actress awards in South before prancing in Bolly.

They were just jealous that besides acting, they could look glamorous too.

Smita and Sridevi did Nazraana together and she spoke highly of the latter.

While there was likely jealousy and bigotry in what SP and DN said, it doesn't change the fact there was quite a bit exploitation going on. And yeah, some scenes Sridevi did were vulgar. I found Madhuri's Dayavan scenes with Vinod Khanna unnecessary and inserted purely for titillation as well. Mandakini in Ram Teri Ganga Maili. Zeenat Aman in many, many movies. Helen in almost all her dances no matter how good she was at dancing. So it's not about being South Indian. The critics should've limited themselves to talking about women being exploited instead of bringing in petty regionalism.

I never found Sridevi vulgar. In fact it was Madhuri that kept thumping her chest in every song - in my opinion she was far more vulgar and sexual.

Sridevi never ever looked vulgar on screen that was her big plus point and the reason why she was equally popular with both kind of audience.

She may have been exploited by directors which is sad however Deepti Naval sounds extremely vicious and jealous of Sri and Jaya’s success. And a typical case of blaming the woman who is being exploited instead of speaking out loud against those directors.

Smita and Deepti were so jealous.Sri devi commanded more price than her heroes.BigB sent her a truck full of flowers to woo her for Khuda gavah.

These actresses would have been paid 10% .Yash Chopra repeated her in 2 films..in Both she was the main lead.The films were about her.

Smita also married a married man.Deepti was accused of running a prostitution racket by her housing society.She gave up custudy of her adopted daughter.

They didn't have perfect lives either.Unglamorous actresses did alternate cinema..and because they got those roles and were untalented in dancing,comedy,masala-they pretended to be 'woke' as it is called today.

All my maids have been better actresses than all the national awrd winning ones.I fell foe their natak every single time.Acting realistically is the easiest thing to do=just be yourself and natural,and unselfconcious-is it that hard?

Sri could do any of their films-Peope would boo these two if they attempted Sridevi's roles.

Yes. I don't use the term 'jealous hater' often but it is apt in describing these two. Sri was an all-rounder and wasn't arrogant about her success.

Coming to the article, Smita Patil & Deepti seem to be really envious of Sri’s stardom. Sri was an all rounder and could have done Smita’s or Deepti‘s roles convincingly. I’m sure both Smita and Deepti would have looked stupid doing some the roles Sri had done.

She did a vulgar movie with Rajesh Khanna full of vulgar dialogues.

Out ofsheer curiosity, we are not supposed to call Sri names or question her life choices because she is dead.. but no one seems to have a problem with Smita Patil names.. didn't she too die and that to young? So what's the criteria for calling names to dead ones?😆
