Late Sridevi is considered to be an iconic actress, but there was a time when Smita Patil and Deepti Naval were not at all impressed by her choice of films and had even slammed her for appearing as mere "sex-object" or "sex-symbol" on the screen

Her family exploited her from her childhood, later her rakhi brother seduced & exploited her. Tragic life behind a superstar image.

I never found Sridevi vulgar. In fact it was Madhuri that kept thumping her chest in every song - in my opinion she was far more vulgar and sexual.

But she just nurtured her talent. Back then Working 18 hrs a day wasn't considered an exploitation in film industry. Every other top actresses had done it. They all used to do at least 25 films an yr across Tamil & Telugu industries .

The way they are using south indian actresses as insult shows how pissed they were with sridevi's and jaya's success. S*x sells simple. Sridevi had the x factor of number one actress.
