'Not wearing revealing clothes or not being bold' was the narrative that DT's the then online PR team built helmed by Roshni Nanavati. This was a deliberate strategy taken by DT and team to align with her onscreen character Ishita's sanskari image. Later, her fan brigades, most of them became her fan due to YHM who never knew her before the show, have successfully propagated this false narrative to an extent that it is now perceived as truth!
There is another concomitant narrative floating on the social media that because of her husband's influence and encouragement, DT shed "shyness" and chose to be bold and started wearing revealing/western dresses. This one also propagated by the oblivious fan brigades.
Both of the narratives are false and this is a prime example of how fake news becomes a perceived truth through constant propagation. Before YHM, DT used to wear bold/revealing/western dresses and there are many pictures of her can be found on the internet. People usually don't use brains in such cases and becomes a prey of PR gimmicks. But equating sanskari-ness with one's dress length or type is nasty gimmick which should be shunned and called out irrespective of propagator.
