Sometimes i/we think as today generation know everything but its the past ancestors weren't stupid. Certain things had a meaning n purpose which our restricted progressive minds dont understand.

Definitely. They had a certain wisdom which is lacking in people today. They may not have been as well educated as us, but they knew what is important in life. They also knew how to cultivate relationships without letting ego come in between and ruining everything.

When I fall sick, my Nani's herbal/homemade nuske are more helpful than allopathic medicine (which alleviates symptoms but causes other side effects). My Dadaji (God rest his soul) was always emphatic about self-sufficiency and growing own food, DIY projects and walking everywhere. He also advised us to eat a spoonful of ghee everyday because he believed it aided digestion and was good for us. Well what do you know, now the science is out that that is exactly what ghee does (among other beneficial things) after people were mislead for decades into believing that ALL fat is EVIL.😆

My parents mostly refused to take their wisdom and fell for the 'progressive' traps of the modern life. I am not about to make the same mistake.

Science is not infallible. Wisdom is important. So is experience and intuition.

Now people on social media are posting their macronutrients and the huge stacks of butter they purchased to make a statement about their healthy and 'alternative' lifestyles and diets. Now people are becoming aware about their carbon footprint. Now people are realising how utterly useless they are at creating something by using their own hands, thus becoming consumers by default. Now people are realising how important being connected to the Earth/land and family is for our mental wellbeing.

My illiterate (by today's standard) Dadaji knew all of this without a fancy degree or a bunch of PhDs. He just knew what was important in life and had the wisdom to distinguish between right and wrong.

Worst gas chamber ever. Everyone gets fumigated and no one dies. 0/5. Don't recommend buying. But I will buy again because of tragicomic irony that shall not be named.

My position summary.

Going by pure cold hard logic outside the realm of human sentiment and emotion, karva chauth should not be celebrated.

But we are human. Emotions are part of our nature. We adhere to tradition and beliefs for a wide variety of reasons from actual faith to socializing with peers. And as long as it causes no harm to anyone people should be free to do whatever they want. I will defend freedom of choice when necessary.

However, it is my sincere hope that we stop a tradition with problematic roots and build a more inclusive one that can celebrate sisterhood and marriage. I will continue to have conversations with those willing to listen on why we should change.

Nicely put. Completely agree.. "Nani ke nushke" can make any pharma company run for money. You know what pharmaceutical companies are doing. They are paying google and other internet platforms to alter search results about home made cure of diseases. Try to batch up searches.

Yeah growing your own vegetables is so much being labeled as urban trend. Riches are doing it yet our ancestors farm were taken away by government. 🤔

Ghee and Coconut oil were considered poison in western countries. yet Kerala consumes coconut oil practically it every day and has highest life expectancy in India.

Luckily i never boarded the butter is unhealthy train. for taste reasons. i love butter. 😆 I can eat butter like a chocolate. 😆

You lost the license to converse when you equated fasting to masochism , used masochism as a slur then requested people to not use masochism as a slur.

Thats not the kind of people with whom you can converse , thats the kind of people whom you show the door to.

Only then will the big words like "choices" and "freedom" be truly incorporated among the suffering section of the women .. There's no call for complete eradication/mockery unless your intention wasn't to help those women to begin with , unless you were aiming / hoping for something else which you arent willing to put on record ..

Looks like you've taken it upon yourself to stop such missionary activities run in the forum by these people hoping to brainwash innocent people into hating their customs and rituals, very passionately. Conversion mafias get super active during every hindu festivities. Its nice to see people standing upto their menace.Good work you people are doing! 😆

Not only are they paying to alter search engine results, they have bribed and paid off researchers and scientists too to fake clinical trial results in their favour. Everything is about 🤑🤑🤑 , screw people’s health. This is especially relevant to psychiatric drugs.

The day we were separated from our farming land by being sold into the falsehood of independence and freedom was our biggest loss. And ironic too, since we became dependent on the government instead.😑 And where is the freedom? I can’t see it. Lol.

Funny story about coconut oil, I notice the Caucasians have started using it by the litre now too. Lol! And I distinctly remember some of my cousins taunting me for using too much coconut oil.😆 I guess now it is ‘cool’ to use it since it’s become a trend. :P

Butter is heavenly. I too will never give it up. And chocolate. Yum yum.
