"This is my first step," she smiles, adding, "Pankh is an experimental move, something I haven't done before. The story is quite dark where I play the role of Kusum, a girl who is interested in studies. But her mom insists on her entry in glamour world."
Maybe those light-coloured eyes will prove to be a lucky charm, considering she shares the trait with Bollywood's leading divas - Rani Mukerji, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Karisma Kapur or even sister Kareena.
Tele world proved big for Sanjeeda, who admits the dance reality show Nach Baliye3 (NB3) helped her come into her own. "NB3 gave me my identity, and people came to know Sanjeeda, not Nimmo or Ayesha."
And of course it also gave her a chance to meet Salman Khan. "I love him, and told him so there and then," she trills. But the show had its not-so-great moments too. It was while Sanjeeda was receiving the trophy from Khan that the runner-up jodi Abhishek and Rakhi staged a walk out. "They just wanted publicity," she shrugs nonchalantly, "even getting slapped by your girl is no big deal (referring to when Rakhi was caught slapping Abhishek on camera). Their walk out went unnoticed, as I was too thrilled to be even notice their antics."
Sanjeeda even rubbishes Rakhi's complaint of not being invited at Aamir's house for Eid lunch when the invitation was extended to the entire crew of NB3. "It's all nonsense because when I arrived at his place I spotted her leaving," laughs an exasperated Sanjeeda.
What about the tough taskmaster Ekta Kapoor, "Ekta is a darling, and not a tough taskmaster," she breaks the myth, "Yes, she is someone who takes pains to go through the scripts and dialogues of her actors and looks into the characters deeply. Which producer would take out such time? This is what I want."
Then what irked Pulkit, we wonder? "He is a good friend and what he did was his personal stand," Sanjeeda emphasises, "Please understand that we all come from different cities to make an identity here, and if this dream is threatened one tends to take rigorous steps. Pulkit did that," Sanjeeda offers on a serious note.
But Aamir's mention adds an immediate zing in her voice, just like his presence was all she required to ease the tedium of the grilling dance rehearsals during the days of NB3. "We were frazzled while rehearsing for the show, as we were acting in soaps too. There was action round the clock and in that grind, looking at Aamir was such a relief for me," smiles Sanjeeda.
And quite contrary to her name, Sanjeeda informs that, "Aamir is the calm and reticent one in the relationship," while, "I'm the chirpier of the two."
So it's Aamir actually who's living upto the meaning of her name, Sanjeeda (serious), "Well, yes he's living upto my name's meaning, even if not upto my expectation," she retorts, then signs off laughing, "I'm just kidding."

Soon to be seen on the silverscreen in her upcoming film, Pankh, there's no gainsaying that Sanjeeda Sheikh has finally taken flight to filmdom. But the dancing queen, who recently twirled her wasp-waist during a performance as a part of a beauty contest, stresses it's too early to comment.
