For WWX it was not in flashback phase. It started as undeniable attraction WWX felt towards LWJ. There was a chapter where WWX kissed LWJ while LWJ was drunk in the heat of the moment. As he was not aware of LWJ's feelings he often used to feel guilty for having *ahem* kind of thoughts towards LWJ. LWJ couldn't help the situation as well as first he used to forget everything the next day after being drunk, second he was man of action not words. WWX being ignorant as he was he never understood why LWJ's behavior was so different towards him till Lan XiChen told him about LWJ's feelings.❤️

I totally agree with her. Book version is more tragic and painful for Lan Zhan.
