I've watched two of Surbhi's shows in the past and I know she's a great actress but I am quite disappointed with the writers and the makers at this point. When the show started, it gave us real medical cases and presented us with some actual struggles that go on in the medical field - whether that be coming up with solutions on the spot, breaking the news of not being able to save the loved one to a family, or the discrimination between rich patients and poor ones. All of these things, though dramatic, were believable and watching the beautiful relationships form between the residents gave us even more reasons to watch the show. In addition, I am absolutely obsessed with Dr. Sid's character, I love Namit more than words can explain, and to me even Dr. Ishani as a character was very convincing. They were both passionate and dedicated and portrayed very well how their troubled childhood shaped them into the people they are today. I was ecstatic when they love scenes between Sid and Ishani started but I could have never expected them to rush the love story so much. Let there be interactions between them, let them bump into each other, admire one another from afar every once in a while, and let them and their story develop. Allow them to feel for each other over time, I strongly strongly disagree with what they're doing right now. I really hope they fix it soon because this show and this story has so much potential. If Sid and Ishani fall in love already, all the spice and fun would be gone and it would become boring. I mean I don't think this needs to be stated but more than watching the character in love, the audience loves watching HOW they fall in love. And I feel like the makers are snatching that privilege away from us in this case of our beloved Sid and Ishani.
You summed up perfectly how Iâve been feeling! When the show first started, I loved the storytelling - the medical cases with ethical dilemmas, the character backgrounds for Sid and Ishani that showed how they became the people they are today, and the other residents. We were slowly watching Sid and Ishani develop an understanding of each other as they realized theyâre both good people, just different belief systems based on their experiences in life.
Now, somehow, the entire show seems to revolve around Ishaniâs heartbeat and that silly butterfly. The medical cases are non-existent (for example, whatâs wrong with Nurse Phylloâs daughter? We still donât know đ¤ˇđťââď¸) The other residents are only there to tell Sid or Ishani that theyâre in love with each other. And Ishani doesnât seem capable of focusing on anything other than Sid, to the detriment of her patients.
Donât get me wrong, I love romance. In fact, itâs a requirement in any show that I watch. But I need it to feel realistic. I like watching the slow burn between characters, as they gradually develop their relationship and get to know each other. I feel like I just watched the evolution of a relationship of at least 3 months take place in 1 week.
Do you all think this change in the show has to do with TRPs? I wonder if the CVs felt pressure to increase the romance to bring the ratings up. Even if thatâs the case, I wish they had made the romance feel more realistic, as you would between adult professionals. Right now I feel like Iâm watching a teenage drama.
I still have hope for the show, though, based on how it started. I think if they slow down the romance, start spending more time on the medical cases again (while also focusing on Sid and Ishaniâs relationship and the other residents), they can bring the show back on track. Thereâs so much potential here!
