Hello fandom 🤗 I

As I recently introduced my mum to watch YRHPK, I was re-watching ep80 with her. Ep 80 is when Abir, Nanu and Kunal come to Maheshwari's house to ask for Kuku's marriage (5th July). After watching this episode on the weekend, I found many beautiful parallels and comparisons with Friday's (20th Sept) episode, when Abir comes to talk to BP about Mishbir. So I thought I might share some of the points I noticed. Bear with me as this may be quite long, but please do comment and share your thoughts as well xx👍🏼

Special note: Truly appreciate the writers, direction and production of the show, although I was re-watching ep 80, I can still see the same crux and moral of the show even now at ep 136 👏They are clearly trying to maintain as many of the character traits and main plotline as possible. :)

P.S: Fun fact - Ep 80 and Ep 136 both aired on a Friday! haha Friday is truly a special day for YRHPK

Parallels/comparisons:

1. Entry: Ep 80- Nanu accompanies both Abir and Kunal to ask for Kuhu's hand in marriage. He takes authority and responsibility for his grandson's future, and meets the Maheshwari's family at their house without any notice. He sincerely apologises to BP for all the drama, misunderstandings and mistakes caused by his beti (Meenu) {“Beti ki zidd ke saamne, baap majbur hota hai”}, but still places a genuine request to re-think and accept Kunal's rishta for Kuhu.

Now it is this very dialogue that restricts Nanu from openly supporting Abir now in ep136. Nanu is already so pre-occupied with Baba’s return and Meenu’s fear-stricken condition, that he is sadly unable to focus on Abir’s problematic situation for his future and happiness. Although he does say he will call Vishamber ji to talk to him about Mishbir, he doesn’t get around to it due to his own fatherly instincts to protect Meenu. This doesn’t mean he won’t help or care for mishbir but as we have seen before, Nanu as a character is quite weak. He isn’t as emotionally or mentally strong compared to Abir - he wasn’t able to deal with his financial business and hence called his beti for help and now feels obliged to protect Meenu when she emotionally shaken by Baba’s return, that’s why he has never been able to take a firm stand against Meenu (Abir’s khaada also failed). That's why Abir once again ends up taking matters in his own hands. Abir arrives at Mah’s house on BP’s call and enters the house as a one-man army with BP’s lead and consent.

Abir’s entry in ep80 – memorable and iconic with the bright red balloons and a pleasing smile. This clearly showed his confidence with the support of Nanu, that they will somehow convince Kuhu’s family for Kunal’s rishta. The balloons once again signified that his connection with Mishti and her family was again blooming. Whereas in ep 136 – Abir is standing still behind BP. He didn’t have the courage to meet face to face or even make eye-contact with anyone. He continues staring at the ground quietly, before BP assertively opens the doors wide for Abir to enter. It is only then Abir obtains some strength to finally look up to see everyone face to face waiting anxiously. The hopeful balloons were now absent since, both Mishti and Abir were obviously, extremely nervous, worried and unsure of what was to happen to their relationship. Abir is already aware of the tension as the balloons he bought the previous night burst right in front of him.

NB: So as I began writing this post, I realised the post was going to be much longer than I thought. So I've decided to make it like a parallel/comparison thread instead. Thankyou for being patient with me, I will continue with my next set of thread as soon as I can. Thankyou to everyone who took time to read my thoughts and opinions, would love to hear what you all have to say as well xx❤️

continued...Part 2:

2. Bade Papa (100% sure - he is equally (and Abir) the best character on the show). Watching ep80 again clearly showed me, the writers have not ruined BP character at all. Not even 1%. Let me explain..

Episode 136 BP – [ “Humbhi, aap se seedhi aur saachi baat karenga”] This 100% accurate for BP as a character. Whether it be in ep 80 or no ep 136, he has always said the truth and always asked the exact and correct questions that a true nurturing father would.

In Ep 80, Bade Papa has a strong mindset that Kuhu and Kunal’s rishta is not possible, due to the numerous complications that have preceded – including his family’s insult. Nevertheless,he still provides Nanu, Abir and Kunal an open chance to sit down, discuss and explain their perspective. Similarly, by Ep136, Bade Papa knows and understands the severity and complexity of the situation when he unexpectedly finds out about Mishti and Abir’s relationship. Yes of course he is shocked and upset, like any father of a daughter would be, yet he still provides Abir an equal opportunity to truthfully express his thoughts, views and feelings, by personally calling and bringing Abir to chat.

I understand recently some viewers felt that BP and BM did not think about Kuhu’s situation when they accepted mishbir’s relationship. But Ep 80 clearly depicts BP concern for Kuhu exactly like his concern for Mishti now…

BP explains his view point and reasons with the most befitting answers👏 –

[“Vo Meenakshi ji,jo ek bar Kuhu ko reject kar chuki hai, Vo Meenakshi ji, jo humein nafrat karthi hai.”] -Ep80

The fact that Meenakshi isn’t present at their house, and his previous interactions with her, already supports BP opinion that Meenakshi is against Kuku’s rishta and obviously doesn’t like Kuhu.

Bp re-iterates this exact same issue in ep 136 with Abir,

[“Meenaskhi jiMishti ko nahi pasand karte hai…Kunal ko bhi Mishti bilkul acchi nahi lagti.”]

In both these occassions, BP clearly expresses his disagreement for the rishta (KuKu and Mishbir) - rightly so, BP would obviously have doubts and apprehensions to send both his daughters into a household and family, where they are neither liked nor respected. He is deeply concerned, for the well-being and future welfare of both Kuhu and Mishti as bahu’s in the Rajvansh family.

side note: {A funny yet interesting note is that both these dialogues by BP are said to Abir in both episodes. Abir's corresponding responses at the two different situations, gives rise to the difference we see in BP reaction and final verdict. In ep 80- Abir tries to explain that Meenakshi is ultimately a mother who would never do anything against Kunal's happiness/that would hurt his heart. Although BP respects his words, he still doesn't seem convinced. Similarly, in ep 136 –Abir’s simplicity and honesty that there are other members of the family that adore Mishti, doesn’t quite convince BP. However, it is what Abir continues to explain later on, about the depth of understanding, love and respect he has on Mishti on her upbringing, that ultimately brings BP to accept Mishbir.}

One of the biggest similarities in both Ep 80 and Ep 136 is…

["Lekin jab Meenakshi Kunal se puchenge, ki use Kuhu yaMeenakhi me se kisi ek ko chuna ho, tab aap kya kahenge Kunal?”] – BP in ep80

[“Agar kunal aap se kahenge, ki aap Mishti ya Kunal me se kisiek ko chunna hoga, to aap kise chunege?”] – BP in ep136

I honestly didn’t realise or remember that BP had infact asked this same question to Kunal, until I was watching ep80 again with my mum. I instantly smiled.

These two dialogues I felt, were enough to sum up BP’s character graph in the show. There is no doubt at all, his character has remained 100% true to itself. At both situations, BP thoroughly understood what kind of problems his daughters would face in the Rajvansh family.

The only problem was that in ep 80, Kunal doesn’t get a chance to answer this question by himself. Instead, Abir replies with the implication that Meenakshi wouldn’t ask Kunal to choose between his pyar and mum, because he wouldn’t do anything that would hurt kunal’s heart or come in the way of his happiness. Whereas here in Ep 136, Abir is alone yet he openly and honestly replies to BP that Kunal has already asked him to choose between Mishti and him, but still assures BP by [“aur uske baad bhi mein aap ke saamne behta hu.]”

It such subtle differences in situations and dialogues, that tip the scale in either episodes. BP's trust and respect on Abir is evidently depicted with the way they interact with one another. Although he is still worried for how the relationship will be accepted by Meenakshi and Kunal, BP's trust and faith in his upbringing of Mishti, and his belief and respect for Abir, allows him to support Mishbir.

Not to forget, BP strong belife and righteous attitude towards his daughter and women's rights in society. He never forgets to ask his own daughters and even wife's opinion -

The first thing BP asks in ep 80 is for Kuhu's opinion from herself. ["beta, aap ke mann me kya hain?"] He truly respects her viewpoints despite his own apprehensions. Similarly, even after everything that Abir says in ep136, BP still wants to hear Mishti's opinion and asks ["Mishti, ,kya aap ab bhi yahi chathe hai?"] His first priority is always his daughters' safety, happiness and respect. Nothing supersedes it at all.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

That's it i guess. BP will surely be an iconic ITV character for the future. He is so inspirational. ❤️

I have rambled on a lot, I hope there was some logical coherence, but BP character is just so worthy and deep to have endless discussions. If you have gotten this far and read my post, I thank you from the bottom of my heart xx This took me waay longer than I intended too, but for a special show like YRHPK it's worth it for sure #noregrets🤗

Part 3...upcoming soon. Stay tuned xx

Woah .... what a lovely post. How nicely you have compared both the scenes.

But what a coincident yaar? Today only in Uru's episode highlights post i have mentioned that i wanna watch a face off between Badepapa and Kunal. Coz last time he didn't face the questions directly, also got saved by his brother.

This time i wanna Badepapa to question him about his behaviour. It would be interesting to watch how Kunal will justify his deeds in front of Badepapa.

Now i am looking forward to your third part about Kuku and specially about Kunal.😃

wow we have a friday parallel in this too... thats really nice to here,.... officially friday is our show special day..

Parallels/comparisons:

He takes authority and responsibility for his grandson's future, and meets the Maheshwari's family at their house without any notice. firstly i could like to say that even with 3 people coming there to convince the family they couldnt do what abhir did single handedly..

That's why Abir once again ends up taking matters in his own hands. Abir arrives at Mah’s house on BP’s call and enters the house as a one-man army with BP’s lead and consent.

i feel that nanu is in a way responsible for what meenu is today.. like you said he is weak maybe he should've been a little strong and never gave in to all demands of meenu.. and let her take control of everything and everyone... now he is protecting her when she needs support n strength but he failed to protect abhir who is in same kind of situation with 2 task at hand to handle.. if baba return is a biggest fear of meenu life, this rishta is the biggest happiness infact abhirs whole life depends on it and also he need to handle kunal infact nanu kept pushing abhir to pacify kunal first... actually he is doing the same mistake again let people handle issue on own... with meenu too n now abhir..

this is why i have said in a post nandu,... that eventhough nanu loves abhir and supports him when it comes to priority abhir is always secondary.. abhir is capable of handling everything alone infact this is what he has done from childhood.. but that doesnt mean he can be left alone always to handle things..

Abir is already aware of the tension as the balloons he bought the previous night burst right in front of him.

yaar i so wanted abhir to bring balloon on friday.. wow you described the significance so beautifully.. 👏 correct that time he had support so was confident but here with no one to support and also the nervousness... this was depicted so nicely in episode.. yaar its a nice thought on the significance of balloon bursting and their situation... 👍🏼

NB: So as I began writing this post, I realised the post was going to be much longer than I thought. So I've decided to make it like a parallel/comparison thread instead. Thankyou for being patient with me, I will continue with my next set of thread as soon as I can. Part 3: Kuhu, Kunal and rishtas

A/N: This is such a complicated relationship, and the couple have dug themselves such a long, deep, dark rabbit hole that it’s going to take an extensively big redemption story, to get them back on the right track and avoid from falling into a grave .There are many layers and backstories to these characters, hence this section is definitely not enough for them.

Back to ep80 – BP questions Kunal [“Kya aap Kuku ko pasandh karte hai?”];Unlike Abir in ep136, Kunal’s answer here is quite vague and cleverly covers up his real intentions. Instead of expressing his feelings about Kuhu and whether he has whole-heartedly accepted her for who she is and ready for the rishta, he simply says [“Haan, uncle.”] then declares he would do the same for Abir, as Kuhu hid her feelings when the rishta changed to Mishti. All that runs in Kunal’s mind before he answers BP, is the fact that Mishti rejected him and now fears that Abir is falling in love with her (falling in to her ‘trap.’), not even one thought or feeling in regards to Kuhu crosses his mind. His entire reason to accept this rishta is on the basis of him ‘protecting’ his brother, and his ‘love’ for Abir. At this stage, Kunal still thinks of Kuhu as friend, although Kuhu is head over heels for Kunal, neither of them know each other well enough to even say they are best friends, let alone companions. Their rishta has been built on severely unstable foundations and pillars of one-sided love and illogical hatred. Over the course of Kuku’s rishta, a multitude of misunderstandings and miscommunications have piled on, which has led to both Kuhu and Kunal’s dark, convoluted and complicated behaviours. I know I’m side-tracking a little but, hear me out.. even in the following episode (#81), when Meenu asks Kunal to swear on her, if he has fallen in love with Kuku -> Kunal’s complexity can clearly be seen [“Kuhu buriladki nahi hain..phir bhi main uski saath galat kar raha hu…bas isi baat ke mann me regret hai, guilt hai.] Abir’s Nanko is still living in Kunal here, he even asks Meenakhshi, “why couldn’t they directly ask the Maheswari family to keep Mishti away from Abir. He questions his own mother, [“mein ye shaadi ke drama kyu kar raha hu?...Kuhu ko hurt karne ki kya zararut thi?”] The nanko in ep 81 – still had some control over his mind to be able to realise what he’s doing his wrong and correctly question his mother. But then Kunal himself partly answers his own question with -

[“mein realise kiya ki apne bhai ko Mishti se bachane ke liye, agar mein bura bhi bana padega, tho bhi mein piche nahi hatunga.”]

And this is Kunal/Nanko says the exact same thing to Abir in Mumbai during the brother’s confrontation -

[“Vo ek rishta jis ke liye mein sabse bura ban sakta hu, aur sabse accha ban sakta hu..]”

Kunal has simply not understood the true meaning of love, whether it be between brothers, between friends or between lovers. Instead, Kunal has now attached himself so tightly to his ego and hatred for Mishti, that he isn’t able to see that he is still playing and badly hurting Kuhu’s feelings by acting to fall in love with her – he has lost complete control over his mind to rationally think.

---

Back to episode Ep 136; as we all know was simply all about Abir’s beautiful and thoughtful replies, which were all praiseworthy of Mishti’s unique and pure personality, along with BP/BM righteous parenting.

When it comes to relationships, just like Abir mentions in ep136 –

[“ek rishte ki door un do haathon me hoti hai, jin do haathon me un rishte ki lakhir hoti hai.”]

Similarly, mishti also reminds everyone in ep80 –

[“khabi kahbi families bhi bhul jaate ki, ek rishte sirf do families kebeech nahi hoti par do logon ki beech bhi hota hai.”]

Both Mishti and Abir perfectly remind us and their families, that although they fought hard and encouraged to bring Kuhu and Kunal’s rishta together, the families need to remember that ultimately the stability and longevity of the relationship relies in only Kuhu and Kunal’s hands. If Kuhu and Kunal truly love and care for one another, then nothing external even Abir and Mishti’s relationship should shake or break Kuku apart. But as we obviously know, Kuku's relationship was not built on love at all, and frankly neither Kuhu or Kunal are putting genuine efforts to stay together. Obviously because Kunal doesn't like Kuhu. Yes Kuhu claims she loves kunal, yes she claims she is doing everything to save her marriage, or at least for the sake of Kunal, however Kuhu's comprehension of love is also equally if not more distorted. If she spent even half the amount time and effort she took break/ruin mishbir, on trying understand Kunal; maybe she could have made some progress in at least being Kunal's friend, if not a life partner.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Finally done with part 3. Thank you soo much for your support everyone, glad you're liking my writing and opinions . Do continue to comment and share your thoughts. Sorry for rambling a little off-track here - Kunal's character is just so complicated that it cannot be analysed or compared with just one scene or episode. xx

P.S I have even more immense respect for anyone and everyone who regularly make updates and post special stories here on IF - it truly does take up a lot of time and effort 👏

I will try to update part 4 as soon as I can. Stay tuned xx ❤️
