Hip-hop is now the most popular genre of music in US. It has already trounced rock and pop. Especially in the younger generations (older generation still has rock as #1).

Just like the slums of Dharavi, hip-hop actually originated from the housing projects amongst the impoverished black community living a sidelined life in the inner cities of US. They were actually ignored for a long time in Western media as well, just like how there is uproar in India ki bhooke nangon ko kaise dikha diya duniya ke saamne. I've lived most of my life in slums, so I can tell you that Gully Boy mein there is not even an ounce of the actual hardships people actually face!!

Kya adbhud vidambana hai ki ghareebi aur hinsa ke beech kavya panapati hai.

I think from a cultural reference perspective, this film may have an impact on the Amreekan audience, and this has a good shot at the awards.

Didn't someone wear this to Oscars? Unlike India western people laps such outrageous and out of the box outfits... He would get applauded if he wear something gender bender and hatke if he goes there.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, his ensemble was designed by Christian Siriano, a fashion designer known for his gender-fluid and inclusive runway looks.
