And then we know what happened😆

That is what am saying. All the protests are politically motivated. The degree of politics may vary but vested interest hota sab mein hain.

A thriving life was lost coz of someone's carelessness. Sad.

Development doesn't mean for every human inconvenience you destroy nature. That's the opposite of development.

Matlab aise hi train me bhar bhar kar log aapni jobs par jaate rahe? Inconvenience hota rahe toh chalega right? Agar aisa hi sochte rahe to ho gayi humari country developed. 50 saal b lag jaye to b developing hi rahne waale hai country humari kabi develop nai hogi.

a few years back, employees from one of the studio where I worked earlier, noticed cheetah jumping from the forest hill onto the wall..it later disappeared in the contours on the hill......so they were there..........dont know about the current status though....

These people are gonna hack more then 2000 trees for this project...... with the city already facing worse monsoon showers due to climate change, dont know how this big setback will effect it.......

as someone said in a placard during the protest, Jhaad nahi bachenge toh saans kaise lenge......phir metro hokar bhi kya fayda.....

the main thing needed to free up space in the mumbai to reduce the traffic is to reduce the illegal slums and migrations......... but the politicians wont dare touch that angle due to their vote-bank politics......

I read on twitter recently that Indian cheetah along with 2 more animals is extinct :( will be more than happy if its not true.

It is similar to the problem we are facing in Telangana. We have Nallamala forest here which is spread between four states (majorly between AP n Telangana) it is a tiger reserve and is called lungs of South India as its a very dense forest with varied flora n fauna and is home to many indigenous tribes. Uranium deposits have been found in it and now Govt gave permission to mine it to power our country's nuclear power reactors. There are protests going on to save the forest and people are saying We can buy Uranium but can we buy the forest! Which I think is a very valid question. Mumbai definitely needs metro to solve its commuting woes but if it is coming at the cost of ecological balance of the city then people incharge have to come up with a contingency plan to see to it that both issues are addressed. That said there definitely are many people protesting coz of vested interests and such people are not well wishers of anyone.

Development is maintaining civil and ecological balance. Going by your theory, iske baad they can take on waterbodies, parks, botanical gardens, literally any free space that's resembles nature for human convenience. Log toh baadte rahenge till they control population toh kya sab kuch should be removed for population pressure.

That's not development. Aise agar sochte rahein toh we won't even have zoos or national parks or botanical gardens or basic ponds and parks.

I fully support protesters.

You can't go by logic of planting tree somewhere else. You cant replace as every place has its own ecosystem. Especially Mumbai where forest act as wind shelter also harbouring their own specific small animals, insects etc. Just like you csnt replace a mangrove by planting a forest somewhere else. You cant replace these trees which are going to be cut. Mumbai needs it.

and nothing to argue with people who lack class 8 environment knowledge. They only understand money not nature. But will search for sacred tree during festival. Forget about tree on other days

I am in support of protesters too. They aren't protesting something wrong or acting like karni sena. They are protesting for a good cause.

For development we need to control Population first, religious harmony along with that. Control of four-wheeler on road and more bus for transportation. Apne comfort se bahar nahi ana hai aur bolte hai development chahiye. A country where most of the population is dwelling on corruption can only have retrograde development.

My frnds have lost hair after moving to banglore in high stress work environment. I might live in small city but i have fresh air to breathe and i love it here. I can go to mcleodganj, dharmshala dalhousie on weeknds in just few hours to enjoy nature or patnitop hills, all just few hours drive frm my home equally. I will never move to metro city!

Exactly. The ecosystem, biodiversity, food web of one forest can't be replicated in another place. That's basic ecology. Not to mention, the loss of those tress that have been there since so long.

Well we humans even managed to burn the Amazon , what do u expect. future generations is so gonna hate the 21st century humans cz we were the people who could stop it but did'nt n they;ll face it when it can't be stopped anymore
