I don't know if that's actually what happened there because it's difficult to believe. Let me tell you one incidence from my place. I live in Jammu and people have encroached the area near airport. Municipality has been sending notice to them for past 5 years. Now the entrance of airport is to be extended as it is quite congested and govt has again issued reminder and warned them too. They have also given a deadline. And you won't believe people are still taking it lightly and no ready to vacate the place. And I personally asked a local of that area about the situation and what are they planning on shifting their shop and I was surprised/shocked with the reply. He casually stated k madam ji, pichle paanch saal se bol rahe h yeh log, aaj tak kuch nahi kiya to ab kya karenge. Wo hai na kya bolte hain activist, wo ayenge aur report karenge. Kuch nahi hoga. And then people are like k govt to kuch b nai karti.

Developing metros and public transportation is encouraged in the rest of the world so it reduces the number of cars on the street, which is more environmentally friendly, so I don’t understand this protest.

Edit: ok anjs posted about them wanting car shed in the only green area. They need better developers that can find an alternative place.

As it is Mumbai literally floods every year while the government spends their time blaming each other. Now with more loss of forest cover it might turn worse. I also don't believe in their planting more trees to compensate for the loss cause mostly they don't take responsibility and all those planted trees don't survive for long. Not to forget they can never replace the different species a forest offers. Development without responsibility is why Mumbai suffers to this extent and it may remain the same if accountability is not there.. Development comes at a cost and it should be left to the Mumbai residents to decide what they want.

I know development is necessary but so many leopard and other species live in jungle. Where will they go? Humans breed like mosquitoes and take away resources. No govt has spine to enforce limited child law and unwanted refugees r ruining country more.

I love wildlife. Atleast shift those leopard in other jungles if u wanna ruin it

Matlab the usual wannabe activitist drama.

There sure are some ecological hazards cannot deny that but metro yard is also a necessity for a crowded city like mumbai where local trains and roads are unable to handle the commute pressure.

Although I have been hearing about metro since I was in class one though, kabse yeh planning aur protests chal raha hai.

While I support development, sadly Mumbai metro guys want the car shed in Aarey area, destroying the only green area left in Mumbai. There are 100's of animals and species living there, not to forget the leopards who already attacking humans and getting killed in retaliation.

Wish our developers realise that we only have this one planet for our kids and future generations. And cannot afford to loose it....

Indian cheetah is already extinct according to some survey. They should really find a way out without creating ecological disbalance. Since you are a mumbaikar you would be in a better position to understand the situation than us.

Ek to hum aam janta ek dusre ko le dubegi, Na jaane ke manjra kya hai ,protest kyu ho raha hai jane Bina aur dusra government hume le ke dub hi raha hai. Padhe likhe log development aur environment ko jab saath me leke chal nahi sakte to khaak hai inki aur humari padhai. We don't deserve earth. End me earth hum sabko dubo Dega, hum kya planet save karenge, earth will save herself by vanishing and destroying over existence like how she did of old civilizations.

Kaafi projects ruk jaate hain for years coz of protests which are mostly funded by shady organisations and NGO's that receive money from abroad. USA backed NGO's protest against Russian and European backed projects and in turn Russia n European countries back protests against USA backed projects. Inke ping pong match ka ball India hain as eventually its India n Indians whose progress is stalled.

Shiv Sena + BJP has been ruling the BMC since last 20-22 years what have they done for Mumbai apart from large scale corruption look at the Mumbai roads

Last year Shiv Sena blamed the plastic bags for the Mumbai Floods and then banned as expected the people gave credit to the great 56" Uncle

Cu to this year Mumbai has received the highest rainfall in last 9-10 years and what is blamed

Shiv Sena said in their mouthpiece Samna that Mumbai is flooded coz of the ongoing Metro work around the city

Its a pity that Mumbai people stand in lines during election times whether its extreme heat as was in April May 2019 elections and vote for these narrow minded people

Ultimately common man suffers and the celebs are minting Crores
