Hi initial success tells about how bollywood function ( which functions very badly)

Not taking his hardwork away ..

he got kai po che which became hit ( kudos to music , story , rajkumar rao was better than him in acting .)

He got huge offers after kai po che but not rajkumar who still got to do away with small budget films. Yashraj signed ssr and all movies bombed shudh desi romance and byomkesh bakshi.

Now came the turning point , he got MSD biopic just because he played a cricketer in Kai po che and that movie was hit.

What it tells that bollywood only choose main actors on the basis of commercial success + typecasting + following ( social media etc).

Obviously MSD movie was superhit even before making because of dhoni , through this movie ssr got a huge boost without any skills of his own.

Now comes his downfall .. from raabta to chichore he did pathetic acting plus bad script choices except sonchiriya which i think was decent movie but because of low budget and niche subject got rejected in theatres, here some blame can be put on to audience.

he behaves like superstar and try to copy the mannerisms of sharukh khan even when he has very long way to go. He cant even become sasti copy of sharukh.

So if you see all the movies which got hit , he didnt have much contribution in it. He got big chances with yashraj, also getting with dharma.

personally i don't like this guy and never will be ...

sorry if i hurt any ssr fan.

Now coming to director -

he hit a jackpot when aamir khan accepted his biopic story.

now making biopic i dont consider giving much credit to directors because except doing some research on the story , there is very less creative things have to be done in a biopic. Dangal became so huge hit only because of presence of amir khan , if same movie would have been done by SSR , it may be a very small hit or mostly flop.

now comes the second movie of director without any big star and as usual like we say pol khul gyi.

worst direction.

Well I think it would have done wonders if it was a different Lead actor.
