The problem lies in the place where new male and female face generally dont debut at the same time.

This year we had Tara, Ananya, Sara, Janhvi...but one Ishaan. So ofc there will be an age difference between new males and females.

The heroines who come a gen before might mostly look older than the new gen heroes since they were supposed to look good opposite Khans and Kumars and Devgns...so the new gen heroes need younger actresses.

Ideally each decade should've had equal number of male and female debutants...its this difference that causes the imbalance and the reason why heroines retire earlier, because they look too mature in front of the new heroes.

Take example of any Khan...SRK for example...worked first with Madhuri Juhi, Kajol...then Aishwarya, Priyanka, Kareena...then Anushka, Deepika...they dont leave place only for any new male face...they wanted to look young so got younger heroines.

I think people are most definitely excited for their films the most from actresses, but we have seen actors in the past surprise us.

Surprise is a different thing, but to be a top top star consistency is key.

Which none of the young actresses besides Alia have done. We always had a year where Parineeti after Ishqzaade, Sonam had Neerja, Tapsee had Pink, Kriti had BKB(it wasnt a hit still praised a lot), Sara had Kedarnath(wasn't a hit but Sara was praised) and so on, still none could come near Deepika or Katrina or even Anushka Sharma.

If either of a Chapank or Sadak 2 is a hit with critical acclaim, Deepika/Alia are going to take all the attention.

they don't look mature against new actors, and even if they look, we accept mature actors so why not actresses and yes there is imbalance because people like only care about newcomers and think others actresses are over or have nothing to achieve anymore

Yes, I totally agree with you. Even I think this. Alia/Deepika are the only actresses in this list who are/have been consistently successful. So, a successful film from them will overshadow other work possible.

But...There have been actresses in the past such Priyanka Chopra who have sweeped the attention away with Fashion, Dostana 2 in the midst of her not being consistent or a top actress.

It is hard, but I dont think it is impossible or anything.

Some of them do look older...SRK casted DP because she looked mature...and DP will look good from the young gen with Sid, ARK...unfortunately they have not had hits...with VD she will look old and there are not enough scripts where the heroine is mature and the hero is young

But actors like DP, Kareena...they have star power and thats an achievement in itself

Newcomers will get attention since they are new yaar...both male and female actors...its new news and new gossip...

Being better than the newcomers is a low bar right now tbh. They have all lame

Kareena had iconic roles because of nepotism. I'm sorry but she had strings of flops and yet she got the roles she did. If PC was in her place, she wouldn't have got the same chances Kareena did. Shradhha has Ashiqui 2 and public does love her believe it or not.

Eveyone judges newcomers like that because they've just started off. I remember even Alia was discarded as someone who will fade away cus Sid stole the show in soty and then there was also pareenit sweeping all the awards. But look where she is now. It's all about the scripts and hits in BW.

Alia has talent no denying that but one also cannot deny that she had KJO. He gave her oppurtunites that others didn't have and that's why she had and still has an upper hand. That girl also has good script judgment.

Katrina anushka Deepika also had their fair share of flops, you cannot compare them with the newcomers just yet.

Alia may have had all the great roles in the world, because of Kjo, that is not the point here.

Point is if Alia or Deepika have a good year, they will own the year, not some newcomer who is loved by Internet, simple.

Having easy opportunities doesn't apply to her being where she is today. Not trying to get started on that, because that's another whole topic in itself. It really is what it is. She did receive more "help" so to say, and as a result..she's where she is.Today, she is compared to Deepika because of her hit ratio and that's because of her success rate and critical acclaims whether it is through fair opportunity or not.

Newcomers wont be compared to established actresses ever. But IMO it is possible for others including newcomers that recently debuted, and those that dont include today's top actresses being deepika/alia who can up their bank ability/star power based on their film releases. That's why I asked the question, to see opinions on this.

There have been numerous instances in the past where top actresses were sidelined based on strong performances from contemporaries, whether they were new or not.
