your absolutely right closure is needed. For whatever reason she is not revealing the truth because she doesn't want him to feel guilty that she had to sacrifice herself to help him. Am I the only one who liked the cooking scene a lot. You know, they need closure. When love is as deep as that, one needs closure. The hatred closure never works. There has to be peace and hope and the comfort of seeing the other one happy. They need that closure for their love which consumed them so that they can finally move on.
