Kusum is in jail because of Abhinav..he planted drugs in her purse when she was leaving with Abhay to India... she asks abhay to stand in patient line so that he gets checked-in fast and in mean time abhinav plays the trick and cops arrest her...Abhay does not know about it and he leaves without her.

that was he only way he could keep her back so he can be with her..although shes not with him..i gues he wanted Abhay out of her life...
