I loved the movie and feel it is a must-watch. But I disagree that Akshay Kumar is the reason behind it, or he is a bigger star than SRK. He is the senior version of Ayushman, chooses good scripts and executes them well. I think the content is working for the movie - it is a feel-good film, easy to watch and enjoy, and has a good dose of humour, entertainment and masala ingredients blended well. Also, it is patriotic to the core and a salute to the Indian spirit. I don't think any of us are expecting hardcore Science, and that's what critics are saying that it is over-simplified. But that's exactly why people can connect with it.
Akshay Kumar is relevant because he chooses good scripts. I don't think he is a bigger star than any of the Khans. He and Ajay Devgan are doing good films, period. But they are not huge stars like the Khans. Mission Mangal is good cinema, and that's why its working.
