Nice! At least cats are smart- I have to remove the rakhi within 2 minutes of tying it so that my crazy cute dumbass doggo does not eat it. 😂

I don't understand. You can tie Rakhi to your sisters also. Why do you make it gender specific? During certain poojas also we tie talismans right? What do you think they are!? They are believed to being good luck and protection to the ones who wear them. Similarly by tying Rakhi you are offering protection to your brother and he too promises to protect you always.
I didn't make Rakhi gender specific- history and tradition created Raksha Bandhan to be about sisters tying rakhis on brothers in exchange for protection. It's only now in modern times that you sometimes hear hat girls get Rakhi tied too.
I'm not religious and don't know what a talismans is but i get the gist that it's meant to provide "protection" too. But that's just another can of worms i don't want to open here.
👏
We tie rakhi to everyone..brothers, sisters, friends. It's a tie of mutual respect, love and trust. It strengthens the bonding.

My cat is like do whatever you want to do. He doesn't even try to remove it. Just walks away with it.

Can I just ask you a simple thing? You said that your sisters protect you right? If you are not ashamed to be protected by your sisters then why do you have a problem to be protected by your brother? Just cos he's a Male? I said you that tying Rakhi itself symbolizes offering protection to your brother, you are just promising to protect each other, if you find that misogynistic..ohh well I cant argue with you further

Raksha bandan is not celebrated in south India...that doesn’t mean we don’t protect each other...
I'm from Hyderabad, we do celebrate Rakhi..
Don't care about any festival.
Also I don't have a sibling.
