Was Geet an Overhyped Character?

I never understood why people love Geet so much. I found her heavily overrated. This character doesn't have much depth. She was crazy in the first half and got a little sober in the last hour of the movie. There's honestly nothing special about the character imo. She was just a crazy girl and I've seen many like her. Don't know why girls want to be like this character. Being lively doesn't mean being an idiot. She's an OTT character just like Gul Khan heroines. While I can agree that she was funny at times, never got its appeal on why it became an iconic character.

I can only talk about me, Geet for me.was superficiality personified, never seen any OTT character with so little substance done so brilliantly. It is the ultimate OTT character for me.

Plus her dialogues also play a huge part, they are still popular. And we all know how dialogues make character immortal.

Geet was OTT and Kareena is over-rated.

She was the first of her kind... All gul khan heroines came after her and were kind of inspired from her... Just saying.

Her basic philosophy was to do whatever she wanted to... So tomorrow she won't blame anyone and she stood by it... And took full responsibility of her mistakes.

Didn't Juhi had a similar bubbly in Hum hai Rahi pyar ke which released in 1993? That movie won best film award that year too so I don't think Geet was the first bubbly character I recently watched this movie on Amazon prime and Vyjayanti/Juhi character in the film is very similar to the heroine's in Gul shows expect she came first

Of course Geet and Vyjayanti are different from eachother but both fall in the same category of bubbly and hyper heroine's

Of course there will be similar characters in every decade.. Basnti was hyper and bubbly and sholey came out in 1970s the difference here is the main focus of the story was geet and her hyper bubbliness... The whole story revolved around it and unlike other characters she was called out for her this nature and behavior many times in the movie and had to face some serious consequences as well... She knew that there are faults in her but she accepted those and loved them unapologetically... That's why girls wants to be like her not because she was hyper or bubbly but because she was unapologetically herself.

She became iconic because jab we met was her story and journey from hyper, childish and bit self-centered character to a mature and subtle character without losing herself. Calling her character without depth is totally wrong.

But you compared her with gul khan heroine... Geet was far better than all of them combined.

Yes 100% both geet (tv and movie) are overrated...

Shahid was much better his character had so much depth but he didn't even get half the accolades which Geet got. Kareena is overrated i don't think people like her that much as an actress. it only succeeded because direction of imtiaz looked fresh, we always credit to actors but we forget what we see on screen has been created with the teamwork of so many people.

coming to tv.. even here the geet is overrated but not OTT though

Naina Singh ahluwalia from Left Right Left..is my favourite character but people don't see her beyond her pairing with Rajveer (Rajeev Khandelwal) which kinda makes me feel sick. She was always complete as an Individual character..

I saw few episodes of Geet and it put me to sleep, the only saving grace was Rakhee Tandon (sweety from hum paanch) who was putting up a special appearance as that time as a villian working for naintara. this was just another show of a tough man falling in love with a gentle sweet woman, these concepts bore me to death
