Those movies worked because of content and giving the lead actor credit will be disservice to its writers and director.

No one is questioning Sushant's struggles. Atleast not I am. I was only talking in the context of box office. People have many different successes and failures in their life. Don't use his success in something to defend his failures in other things.

I think he is unique and there are many people who feel the same. It's not like bechaare ke koi fans hi nahi infact he has a very dedicated following. I also think Ranbir is very basic and boring but He is a bigger star na? Ab just because I am not in majority doesn't mean that my opinion is wrong (as I said it is subjective).Anyway as I said chodo! The topic was about why TV stars fail on big screen and he undoubtedly is an example of successful transition from TV to movies.

I know what the topic was about. But my main problem was with tanvismile using sushant as an example for trying to prove that overexposure to audience isn't a reason for TV actors failure(as pavitra rishta was a big hit on television). But as sushant hasn't been able to become successful at box office until now, this example doesn't stick.

Lol... most of the TV actresses have better dialogues delivery/ Voice modulation than the current set of actresses in bollywood currently and male actors like Shaheer Sheikh and Parth Samthaan are way better actors than talentless Sid M, Arjun and Tiger

It's because they don't have the support of big producers to guide them nor do they have the kind of advanced PRs who carefully craft their images and constantly keep them in the news. Another main reason is that BW looks down on TV actors and very few actors get a chance to star in big-budget movies by big PHs.

@bold I don't even understand why? I know the standard of Indian soap operas has fallen by miles. But still we have some time actors on TV too, I don't know why they are looked down by BW.

I admire HW in that context at least. Actors enjoy almost equal star power both on TV and big screen and the transition is easy there.

I also believe that we have huge talent in our TV industry but they are not utilized well or not given good opportunities. Besides, we are being served some serious crap on TV these days, no wonder BW finds TV actors less credible.

I feel that BW equates crappy serials with crappy acting. If I recall correctly, 1 of the TV actors mentioned in his interview (but I can't remember whom now) that BW producers think that TV actors overact and in fact TV actors are told to forget what they learnt in the TV industry and re-learn their acting craft again. Which I do think is a valid point as most actors in ITV overact/ don't act well at all and are overhyped by fans. Still, there are a few gems in the ITV industry and auditions should eliminate all the terrible TV actors and aid in the selection of the best TV actors.

That aside, now days, I feel that 'bad ITV serials and acting' is also used as an excuse to propogate nepotism. It creates a huge barrier for ITV actors to cross over to BW and helps to 'justify' why big PHs go for products of nepotism to star in their films.

I think she meant to say that Sushant is doing well compare to other TV actors that vanished after doing 1 or 2 erotic movies and then went back to TV. Sushant, Mouni and Yami are doing quite well than other TV actors actresses. They might not become A-listers like SRK, Salman, DP, PC, Kareena and like other A-lister actors actresses but they will last in the industry for sometime like John, Shahid, Amrita Roa, Parineeti, etc. It’s like it’s better than nothing.

If that's what she meant then it has nothing to do with overexposure. Even Tushaar Kapoor has survived then.
