About sibling rivalry... but then are you not expecting too much maturity and sensibility from a mere 17-year-old child - who will have her own insecurities. I am not saying she has to hate the child. But there will be insecurities. Her mother will be shared. In her mind, she might now remain as important to Hanuman once his own child arrives. These insecurities could be and should be explored, and handled and explained. Hanuman can easily promise her that no matter what, she will always remain his firstborn (or something along those lines)... Point being, Minnie is a 17-year-old kid who has seen too much and suffered much more than any normal teenager and anything new will cause insecurities.

Also, have you seen Badhai Ho? Those feelings should also be explored. Those are real feelings. When friends her age are getting married, being pregnant, having kids - she is going to have a sibling!

I have watched Badhai Ho and I understand where you are going with this, but there is a slight difference. Unlike in that family, HS and Babita are not middle-aged. Even if this were their first child, the age would not be a big deal.

As for her insecurities with respect to sharing her parents, especially HS, with this baby, then I expect that HS would be wise enough to preempt it and make her feel at ease by reminding her that she would always come first as his child.

I also feel that if she were to have a sibling it would be towards the end of the show, by which time she would have chosen HS as her father, and along with that choice it would be her decision to accept the entire package that comes with it.

If Minnie were a regular 17-year-old I would not expect this much maturity from her, but she is not. Especially now that she is in this journey of HS and Babita coming together, she is learning something new everyday. Their marriage and then having a baby would seem natural to her because of the pace at which the story is progressing. If HS and Babita had decided to get married earlier on without her being privy to their journey, then yes, it would be tricky. Also, I believe she is bound to find out about his first child, and would understand that Babita and him successfully bringing a new baby into the world would complete the circle.

I am just speculating based on the current state of character development on the show. Things might become very different over time, of course.

My reference to the movie was not for middle-aged parents but for the awkwardness that such an age difference creates. Minnie and the new child will have a minimum age difference of 18 years. Come to think of it, the age gap between Minnie and Babes is almost 17-18 years... No matter how mature someone is the awkwardness exists! It's bound to happen...

The point I am trying to make is about insecurities is from Minnie's perspective. I am sure Hanuman Singh will be intelligent enough to address her insecurities well in time. And yet, those thoughts shall come.

I agree that the child would come much later in the show but I still don't think Minnie will accept the entire package. She will go through an emotional conflict. If handled properly, those conflicts can be sorted. I am not saying she won't understand or won't accept, but the feelings and the insecurities are bound to come.

Although I would love to see these emotions played out, I agree baby is a bit too soon.

Babita is 34-35 and HS is 36-37 right? I mean they can still have kids... they are not that old. So, I feel they will end up having kids at the end, but thats probably gonna be towards the end of the show like inlieu said.

Also, I think Mini will eventually understand. She might be a little weirded out or insecure at first like she was when she find out about Ashok and Meeta's kid, but at the end she will want them to be happy. They could also explore that part when Babita and HS are planning, and what effects it will have on Mini. That will be an interesting story, but thats not gonna be for a while I am sure.

Babita had Mini at the age of 18 so its was not really planned or anything... it just happened. Honestly, I think both Hanita would want to raise a kid together.... no doubt Mini is their kid too, but I feel Babita might want HS to experience his kid's childhood after finding out that he lost a kid... so she might be okay with bringing another child in this world.

I would love to see HS also regretting not having watched Minnie grow up and for that to lead to the idea, especially on Babita's part, of them having a child.

Knowing these writers, they will show such insecurities come up. I guess it depends on how long the show runs for and how much time they have to explore all these angles. I am in for the ride, for sure.

I think her reaction about Babita and HS child will be different from her reaction about Ashok and Meeta's child. Ashok was hardly present for her. He was just a mere name. She hardly knew him. But Babita was only her mother for 17 years... the reactions, the feelings have to be different.

Also, my only point is that these emotions should be explored. They should be touched upon. They don't have to make Minnie against the child - she will never be... but it would nice to see a few emotional scenes when she finds out... like when she found out that HS loves Babita, she had an extreme reaction, but when she calmed down, she accepted him and wants them together.

Likewise, she will have a reaction when she realizes she'll not be the only child. But then she'll accept it when she understands that the child's existence does not undermine her equations.

Just reading your main post again annx.

Loved your choice of words and especially these bits in bold:

Hanuman Singh unknowingly, unintentionally, unabashedly became a father Minnie never had. He was there for her when she least expected. Be it to train her, to get her admission, to when she broke her foot, to every time she broke down because of her real father. He was there to hold her, to wipe her tears, to guide her, to support her, to teach her, to hug her. He was there when she was a mess. He supported her, trusted her as a father should. When a boy framed her, it was Hanuman who not only helped her clean her image but also stood by her and trusted her. He was her support.

I remember how moved I was in the scene where he talks to Minnie about Ashok's arrest and cannot control his tears at seeing her hurting, trying to be brave, and failing. That bit when she looks up at him and tears well up in her eyes as her breathing becomes ragged, still pierces my heart. And then of course the way he hugged her and cried with her after failing to control his own tears makes that a very special moment in their lives for me. He was able to break her defenses down where her own mother had failed, because as you said, she could be a child for once, she could, without hesitation, "burden" him with her fears and troubles, knowing that he would understand.

Months ago when Ashok returned, Minnie, like any child, had hoped her father would bring her gifts. Her gift was a doll. Her father had forgotten her age. He did not even bother doing simple math. A doll for a 17-year-old daughter. I still remember the disappointment on her face. A father who came back after so many years did not even get his only child a suitable gift.

And then there was this father. He knew his daughter's dreams. His daughter did not have to ask for anything. He got her what she wanted. A camera with everything that came along with it… The happiness and the love she must have felt. There existed someone who would put her and her needs above himself. The security that it gave her, and the confidence that one day, everything would be fine.

Minnie never asked for a professional camera, but it took one little frown on her face as she mentioned its costs for HS to know what to do next. When he handed her the present he said they were not dolls. I had not watched the initial episodes then so I did not quite get it, only that I was in awe of this man's generosity and his ability to understand her dreams without hearing her speak of them. Only later when I had watched the episode where Ashok arrives did it dawn on me the significance of HS' words and how deep his love for his daughter was.

Uff! I'm so in love with this show.

I know I sound greedy, but I would want the bulk of her insecurities to come from sharing HS and not Babita. She will always be his child born of his heart so no one can take that place but yes, the thought of a biological child coming into the picture would change the balance.

Again, I love this show for going down this path. In other shows we'd have focus on mothers adopting and raising their kids but a father's emotions in such cases is not explored enough or is over-the-top. Even in the case of a biological child, since it grows inside the mother the focus is often on the mother-child bond. What about the father who forms a bond based on something intangible and feels paternal love the moment he finds out he is going to have a child? He has to wait "on the outside" and cannot share the physiological changes that the mother experiences. He already begins to dream of a bright future for his child, in which he expects to play a great role.

In HS' case, he missed out on all of these emotions of an expectant father with regards to Minnie. On the other hand, he must have had big dreams for his unborn baby which would never be fulfilled. Life is giving him a chance and meeting him half way. Being the wise man that he is, he has grabbed everything with both hands but not being part of either of his children's growing years is bound to strike him. I really really hope he speaks up about it much later in the story.

Two scenes that you mentioned are really beautiful. I was watching these episodes again.. and I am just loving HS and Minnie's bond more and more.. I love all their scenes together. I guess whenever Minnie has cried in front of HS ,he has teared up a bit.. or got affected with her tears... Contrast between him and Ashok was also so evident in the episode where Minnie shrieks out loud in court for her mother's sake.. Only HS comes to place his hand on her and way Minnie trusted him to call out his name.. their dynamics if I come to think of it from start have been so special.. Minnie was enraged and pulled out chair on khatri when he held that and make her realise that this anger is no good... The way he lets her into his past life.. allowing her to see his vulnerable side ..step she takes to confront her real dad for HS.. I felt they were building this relationship stronger by small things.. whether his pacifying her on Lodi or after court mishap by wise words..and comfort that she sort ..there were scenes where HS has truly acted as a dad and Minnie was standing like a child in front of him fearing his scolding.. be it his outburst when he realized she missed her admission test or when she lied about her suspension from college.. in that scene next to it. .he also reprimanded her mother for making his veer balika so timid that she feared facing world.. aww I can go on and on with these two..
